I was curious how much my fully optioned out mustang would trade in for (56k msrp). Dealer offered 32k with 5k miles and said it was a great deal. Lol. Im keeping it ?
Yeah, I paid $60k for my M2C a few months back. Now I am getting offered somewhere between $49k-$51k trade-in on it. At this point, I am not willing to take that loss. If I am getting a Supra, I want to decrease my monthly expenses.

So, I will take some time to save and buy a new car before the warranty expires. I don't want to be stuck with a high mileage M2C that has already been in for warranty work three times since purchase. lol.

its weird because i thought i saw a video of a guy out of state that bought a supra from this dealership and said he got it for msrp. it was a stratosphere blue on youtube i believe
I think they’re doing markup on MT and msrp on AT. Not sure if that’s still the case

5K dealer markup, and 1K dealer prep fee.

6K markup. Unless by prep fee they mean delivery / handling fee
Correct. The spec has a 1095K delivery fee and they told me the markup was 5K over that spec which listed "Total Advertised Price $59,439.00"

Maybe. I was texting with the sales person after she sent me the spec I asked about markup and she went quiet for like an hour and then told me 5K. Plus it would cost me some bucks for shipping to CO. I am hanging tight hoping one of my local CO dealers I am talking to gets a 6MT.

Noticed base/premium MTs are starting to pop out more frequently lately (autotrader etc). Hope toyota builds/ships enough cars and keeps up the supply, otherwise mark ups will continue

I had not looked at Autotrader, yes, there are a bunch there. I sent inquiries on the first few and so far the responses have been "this is sold but you can order one from us". Annoying to see dealers claiming they can custom order.

Then when I respond that they actually can NOT do this I get a response like. "Since the inventory shortage we've had to build vehicles for our customers, take deposits and preference for the particular vehicle. We do have to wait for Toyota to give us the allocation, you're correct." Implying that if I give them my money they can ask Toyota for a particular build. SLEAZY

What they're saying is kind of half true as I understand it. They can ASK Toyota for a specific build, but if Toyota 1) actually makes it, 2) actually places it for allocation in their region, and 3) that particular dealer actually gets that allocation or has the ability to trade with another dealer in the region who has that allocation is indeterminate.

In pseudo duplicitous style they aren't outright LYING to you, they are just giving you the impression that a system designed on spreadsheets and percentages will somehow work in your favor if you deal with them. Kind of like how a casino will claim their slot machines have a 98% payout... that doesn't mean you are going to win, it just means the system is set up in a particular way that may or may not work in your favor.

When I put in my deposit I was given a similar song and dance. They heavily imply that everything will work out for you when in reality the whole thing is a multi-stage lottery (with a few unseen loaded dice) and you are hoping for the best outcome. To some degree you just have to ensure your deposit is refundable (and that that is in writing) as well as nailing down the out the door price as close as it can be (also in writing). If you go in with your ass covered as best you can, all you really stand to lose is time... which is why everyone says to have multiple deposits working at multiple dealers if you can manage it.

Fair enough. Still sleazy to me though :). I replied that I am in touch with dozens of dealers across the country (which I am) and if she gets an allocation for any 6MT I am interested. My only criteria is no yellow. (Sorry yellow owners, the color is stunning but not for me.) I also really want driver assist but it looks to me like all the 6MTs have it. Her response back was "Sounds good, thanks".

I'm in the exact opposite position from you, my preference is ONLY for yellow MT 3.0 Prem with driver assist and no other port addons. I'm basically looking for an unpopular color of a popular transmission of apparently an even more popular car in a region where this color is looked down on. I've also been told by a few dealers that the region I am in is "not preferential" for Supras... meaning, the coasts and other regions will get far more allocations sooner than the backwoods flyover region I'm in.

I figure I'll get my allocation somewhere between never and spring next year. I've seen a few MT yellows elsewhere in the country, but I'm waiting to pay no markup at the dealer who has my deposit, and I'm not keen on buying out of state and having the transport costs as well.

I was speaking more about the color yellow in my region in general. I've had three local dealers all basically tell me "yellow is a hard sell here" and one dealer even tried to convince me to abandon yellow in favor of another color. All three dealers have called me offering various 2022's in every color of the rainbow except yellow but I'm waiting for a 23 manual.

One local dealer had a 22 yellow base on their lot for more than six months this year. It didn't help that they had it marked up into space and drug through the dock installed options catalog from front to back.

That's interesting since yellow will usually fly immediately unless there's a sizable markup on it like your mentioned with that one local dealer. But I am mostly seeing white/black/blue nearby whenever a dealer gets an allocation
