not allowed to dive into specifics as this information has not even been made available to Toyota USA, let alone dealers etc.

...but it is a Toyota spec'd motor built by BMW.

Really now? What are the differences that would make them be undecided? cause considering what was said, the supra engine sounds great over the B58 . Do they know something we don't?
just weight most likely. your average Z4 owner doesn't care about 500hp power potential, let alone 7/800hp, so why add the weight and new ancillaries?

Looks like a Kia with a split grill. Or a Mercedes with a split grill and more stuff on the lip. Why do all new cars look something or other like this? At least the Supra will be a fresh wind in the generic-angry-car world. Unfortunately it's not as happy as the predecessor was, but it's different at least.

Yeah, it wouldn't make sense for them IMO. Would be interesting to see a few 800hp Z4s popping up though.

The last thing I would ever want to see, is a Z4 lined up next to me at Great Lakes.

Look forward to a future with Supra nose swapped BMW Z4s and maybe vice versa... Sil80 style.

If I recall correctly from Toyota's presentation on their new lineup of powertrains, the Dynamic Force engines come at least with forged rods. Most of Toyotas cranks have been forged a long time now. I expect those two factors would be consistent in any engine they'd spec. At least, that's what would be logical to me.

Count me interested.
Isn't it that the B/S-series engines from BMW have always been famously tuneable? The E30-through-E92 M3s all had S-series engines.
I don't know how they'll make it have "JZ-like" attributes. Maybe a turbo hump?
And also, does anyone think they'll call the engine the "3JZ-GE" and "3JZ-GTE"?

Toyota Salesman: It's got a 3JZ bro!
Customer: It says BMW on the engine.
Salesman:....

If the new Supra is available in different specs (like the FRS) and the engine is in fact reliably tunable into the 700hp range... I can see myself getting into a lot of trouble with the local law enforcement.

BMW is still deciding if they want to use the the Supra motor or the upgraded B58. As of two weeks ago, they were still undecided.
That is very interesting, remember all the negativity posted here about “I would never buy a Supra with a BMW engine or anything to do with BMW” etc? BMW now considering the Supra motor (and why wouldn’t they...) funny how the tables may have changed...

If the Z4 render done by them was pretty much dead on... it shouldn't be far off on the Supra.

The Z4 concept and prototype pretty much has the same proportions. Sadly that Autobild rendering still uses proportions from the FT1.

Also Guff's source said it look like the modified version of BestCarweb's rendering.
