Hmmm... let’s see....., the Supra has bmw everything in it pretty much, what is so hard to believe here? Besides the body, can you point out a single thing that is actually from Toyota? Think hard.

Dimensions very similar to 991 Carrera

370hp

1460kg

The specs are very, very similar to a 991 Carrera.

Yes Porsche have been tweaking and tuning their platform for 60 years.

While the viper et Al are ultimately muscle cars that can turn, the Porsche etc are corner cars that can go fast. Different philosophy to start with, similar end results.

Vipers / Corvette are not muscle cars. In today’s market only the Charger / challengers are muscle cars.

Vipers will put a 918 to Shame on laugna seca. It’s no muscle car that can turn.. it’s a proper track weapon.

Anyone making a summary judgement on that at this point is the one not thinking hard enough. There's not enough verifiable information available yet to be able to accurately assess the relative contributions of BMW and Toyota to the Supra's development and final form.

Just stop. Please.

Just because a part has a BMW stamp on it does not mean it was not designed/engineered or tested by Toyota.

The vehicle is MANUFACTURED by BMW. I dont know what you guys expect. It will only have for the most part Toyota branded things on the wheel/rims/emblems etc

This does not take away from the fact Toyota has obviously done there engineering on this car.

Everyone needs to settle down. This is how the auto industry works for niche products.

If you dont like it please leave. It's getting very tiresome listening to people complain about It over and over and over. The car will have BMW parts on it. The car will have Toyota designed/engineered parts on it. The car will have Toyota/BMW shared design parts on it.

And like many have said on the forum, Toyota is the leading and innovator on manufacturing and design processes for both efficiency and quality. We will be fine. I promise

Sincerely-

Automotive manufacturing engineer.

The stamp on a part has very little to do with who designed it and a lot to do with who built it. Obviously if a part is straight from another BMW, it's a BMW part. If it's a Z4 or Supra part, then it's from the Toyota/BMW design team and the company name on that design engineer's paycheque is anyone's guess.

BMW is clearly the manufacturer here (even if it is coming from the Magna factory), and parts you buy from Toyota will come through the BMW supply chain (probably in BMW packaging) even if the part says Toyota on it.

Of course if you're working with a BMW manufacturer, you're going to use the BMW parts bin. It's been said time and again that Toyota and BMW worked on designing both cars. I would be curious to know how many design engineers each company contributed, but I don't think it is fair to say Toyota paid BMW to build them a car.

This. It's very easy for someone to bitch and moan from their armchair about how Toyota just paid BMW to make a car but what people don't understand is that in some aspects it's probably been more difficult for Toyota to test and approve each component as it's all new to them and not from their regular suppliers. They must have gone through each nut and bolt to make sure it complies to their standards. This I'm sure has not been an easy task. It's one thing rebadging a budget car to sell in some markets and another to make an entirely new global vehicle that is going to be the brands halo vehicle for a long time. Toyota more than anyone knows what's riding on this.
