Glad to see BMW releasing some dimensions so we can finally put the whole "its smaller than the 86" debate to rest.

Guff and Bestcar have said the Supra slightly longer than the Z4; like 2 inches. So if true, around 5 inches shorter than A80; not that much differences in my book. That's good to hear. :)

Reviewers just compared the Supra and the 86 and said the Supra is shorter. Strange considering the z4 is longer.

I haven't been really keeping up with all the reviews. I doubt that's true, people's perceptions will vary. Did they actually measured it or were they just eyeballing it? I just know that Carmagazine posted the dimensions. LxWxH: 4380/1855/1290mm. It matches the ones release by Bestcar earlier this years.

There is a 271lb difference between Coupe and convertible versions of the 2 series of the same engine/model. So I would def say there is room to make It to 3200 or less for the Supra. A lot more bracing and such is required for a convertible chassis to give it the rigidity of a coupe chassis, all the weight isn't in the mechanical rag top.
The 2 series was a coupe design from the start, that's why the chassis had to be reinforced to get the rag top. The Z4 however was designed with that in mind so the difference between soft top and hard top should be minimal. E85 Z4 roadster had only 20 kg over the E86 coupe IIRC. The current 718 Boxster/Cayman have identical weights per Porsche site. I think a similarly equipped Supra might be lighter by 25 kg at best.
