I had a 992 GTS but sold for something else but I still have the Supra. The 992 is a better car even in base format in my opinion. I think the Supra sounds better and it’s easier to do “fun” driving in (burnouts are super easy and drifting is easier). With that being said the 911 has a much nicer and modern interior and handles a lot better than the Supra. Tuning wise I’d say they are about the same but the 992 is easier to tune if your Supra is 2021+. They aren’t really the same price range so I wouldn’t compare the 2. The 911 is a better car in almost every aspect. The Supra is still loads of fun though and I still love driving it despite having driven cars much faster/cooler. The Supra is the best value for money.Hello fellow enthusiasts. New here and just sold my 992 Carrera T to the dealer.
I have deposit on a 26 premium manual. I just want to get thoughts on what to expect in drive feel.
A little background. This will not be my daily, I have 987.2 cayman track car and wife has a 996. My T was tuned and had downpipes. It was peach to drive but felt too big.
Please share your thoughts
Thanks
GTS's aren't even close to a well setup supra on track. For street, I def agree with you but you can buy three supras to one GTS, which you recognized as a bargain.Tuning wise I’d say they are about the same but the 992 is easier to tune if your Supra is 2021+. I mean in the 911 you just plug in an OBD scanner from M Engineering and in 2 minutes your car has +100 HP and you can erase it easily back to stock whenever you want. The Supra if it’s 2021+ you gotta ship out the ecu or cut a hole in your engine bay for a subpar jb4. I know that supras make more power when fully built than a carrera but most people are not trying to make their car a drag strip monster. They just want oem+.GTS's aren't even close to a well setup supra on track. For street, I def agree with you but you can buy three supras to one GTS, which you recognized as a bargain.
You aren't conflating "easier to tune" with price right? Because last time I checked 911 tuning is at least $2,000 entry fee.
Yes you do… you have to make a hole in the firewall in your engine bay to connect to the obd2.You absolutely do not need to cut a hole in your engine bay for jb4.
Sorry, you are wrong. There are already holes on each side going into the cabin. Zero need to drill holes.Yes you do… you have to make a hole in the firewall in your engine bay to connect to the obd2.
Took some photos anyway to make sure people that happen upon this thread know that the statement is incorrect.Sorry, you are wrong. There are already holes on each side going into the cabin. Zero need to drill holes.
Happy to take photos if you keep doubling down on something you are incorrect about.
To be clear, I am not defending JB4's as I am pretty anti JB4. I am just clearing up incorrect information around routes from engine bay to the cabin.
I just got one question for you. What kinda dope are you smoking because I need some of it! LolThe Porsche echo chamber is wild. Always think they are the fastest thing.
I can tell you that the leaderboards speak the actual truth.
Even with all the mods I have, it's still at least half the cost of an actual performance Porsche, but of course, modded car vs modded car comparisons are also kind of dumb.
The only Porsches that give me a hard time on track are the cup cars, as they should being 7-8x the price and on full race slicks.
One good thing about that is it pushes me to get PB's chasing them.
I literally do not care what you think. Lap times speak the truth.I just got one question for you. What kinda dope are you smoking because I need some of it! Lol. It must be very good!!!

Reminds me I need to update my 55 time on there. Actually puts me in front of a cup car.I mean https://lapmeta.com/en/track/variation/55 you can see here. He isn't wrong about a bunch of Porsche cup cars with slicks on running his time
Imo the reason to pick a supra after owning a Porsche would be with a specific purpose in mind. The Porsche is objectively better in every way. But if you're looking to do a significant deviation from stock, have a tuner car feel, a modification journey, for example a big T51R turbo mt supra like I have or a dedicated track build. The supra might make sense in that regard. Personally I like variety in my automotive experiences. I enjoy gutted hondas, big turbo supras and M3C but in different ways.Thank you @jmikes for the detailed response. This was very comprehensive. I have gone through many cars and the T was my 12th P-car. My goal for the Supra premium manual will be back roads and tracks use for fast tracks. My Cayman will be my prominet track car. I may daily the Supra twice a week.
I'm sure I will tune it, but looks like that's process. I'm confident for half the price it should bring me 85-90 percent of the fun.
Thanks again.
