Yes, it was unfortunately a PITA but I worked through it. TIS hotline wasn't super helpful as I couldn't get anyone with enough experience with Toyota ISTA installation. They did however, credit me 2 days since the software wasn't initially working.@Link, I'm stuck at exactly this point. Were you able to work through this?
Here's some notes which you may find helpful:
-Brand new laptop with Windows 11 Pro x64 with 250GB SSD
-Logged in as administrator and disabled firewall and antivirus for the installation and later renabled once everything worked.
-Installed GTS+ and Toyota ISTA per the TIS website instuctions (make sure you download the latest versions that are compatible with one another). I ended up uninstalling software a handful of times and starting from scratch since the initial installations did not work for one reason or another.
-GTS+ InfoCenter should automatically pop up in the bottom right notification area when you log into windows and should say "GTS+ Ready". This is a requirement for Toyota ISTA to work according to TIS hotline and I found it be to be required as well.
-You need to log into GTS+ before starting Toyota ISTA application. To do this, double click GTS+ application and it should take you to login screen. I used Miscrosoft Edge as web browser. I used United States and Public User on the drop downs with my active TIS credentials.
-I didn't need to mess with configuration settings on GTS+. As long as I was logged in, Toyota ISTA worked for me.
-Launch Toyota ISTA by double clicking Toyota ISTA application. You should get a large Supra splash screen as it loads and ultimately the application will show up. You will need to configure the connection settings to work with ethernet.
-Toyota ISTA will not boot if you do not have an active TIS account. This is somewhat unfortunate as I thought it may be standalone after installation. This is not the case.
-Toyota ISTA boots even if no vehicle is physically connected via ethernet. In this configuration, you can still use certain features of Toyota ISTA by inputting VIN for example. I was able to look at system diagrams, descriptions, and other info. However, you will not be able to use the diagnostics feature or upgrade firmware as there is no active connection which makes sense.
-An interesting hack that I found was that if you leave Toyota ISTA application open (computer is not restarted/logged off), Toyota ISTA will continue to function even after your subscription period has ended. It seems that the TIS subscription is only required for Toyota ISTA to boot but it doesn't continuously check.
