Anyone removed the flimsy undercar brace?

I threw away the hex bolts the Cusco came with and used these instead:

Also, the torque spec for the 8 bolts on the flat part is 28nm or 21 ft-lbs and the 2 E14 bolts at the rear corners are 56nm or 41 ft-lbs.

What was wrong with the Cusco one?

The Cusco supplied hex bolts are easily stripped. I nearly did trying to properly torque them.

did any one here had installed the cusco brace and aftermarket exhaust that had vibration or rattles after a couple days of driving?

Do you still have the manual for the Cusco brace? Would you mind sending me some pics? Bought a used one with no manual.

Sorry I don’t but I just went hand tight and checked it recently. Still tight. The rear bolts didn’t fit so I used the OEM bolts with the cheap looking bar on the 2022. Worked & looks great!

That bar adds structural rigidity to the unibody, it is functional and should be left installed. It may seem somewhat flimsy when not installed in the car and so do most of the other stamped components that make up the vehicle structure until they are all welded, glued or bolted in place.

As an engineer who spent several years working in the aviation industry early in my career I analyzed that component when I installed my exhaust and it is structural.

Even the large aluminum plate under the engine is structural. If it was not needed Toyota/BMW would have not engineered it into the vehicle.

Like the adaptive sound system cuz we all know that was necessary
