I bought an AGM charger so I'll see if this makes a difference.

Not sure if it was mentioned but you can check your battery voltage/life with like BimmerLink and whatnot. Also what amperage charger did you get?

The whole time I had the insurance OBD dongle plugged in the car did not auto stop. Was around the same time I got the recall done so I was a little worried about the battery at the time but eventually it came back. Then it got annoying again so I only turn it on when I know I'm going to be stopped for long enough.

Problem solved. It was the battery.

Plugged in the charger and the light showed the lowest charge. Took 8 hours to fully charge it.

Went for a drive today and the auto off didn't work once. Parked it for 20 minutes and took it out again. Auto off immediately started working. Maybe it needed to reset. What gets me is everything seemed to work fine but the battery had such a low charge.

Thanks for all the help.

My car hasn't done it for the entire "winter" (bay area, never colder than 40f) season it feels like, I'm slightly worried but I figure it's the weather, and the need to pump hot coolant to keep the heater running (easier to fool the humans with blowing air instead of real ac vs blowing air instead of real heat)

Well, I don't know what's going on but it happened again. After 2 weeks of working auto off didn't function today. What the heck, man.

Try resetting it with bimmercode.
