Hey all, was wondering if the B48 on the Supra has received the forged internals that the M bimmers like M235 and M135 have gotten? Thanks

The b48 supra should have never been made especially with the gr86 and gr corolla out.

Poor dude asked a question and already got attacked for owning a 2.0 šŸ˜‚, but thatā€™s a good question tbh, I know the regular one in like the 330ā€™s isnā€™t forged, but Iā€™m not sure if the Supra got that one or the one with forged components out of the M light cars

The new Gen M235 and M135 have downsized to the B48 that makes 306hp. With forged pistons rods and crank as well as high pressure fuel pump. I believe the Supra has the FP but not sure on the internals

The M135i and M235i use the previous generation N55 engine.
Hard to compare since the engines aren't exactly interchangable.

It's sad there still isn't any real information out there about the 2.0. We're still having issues with what / if any LSD we have in the car lol. Im afraid most our answers wont come until some brave soul rips apart the car and does the leg work... and well that's not the reason i bought a 2.0 over the 3.0 lol.

From what I can tell they don't share the same parts in that respect.

The Supra outside of Japan uses the B48B20O1 spec engine and the M135i, M235i uses the B4820T1. There is a difference in power between the 2 engines as the compression ratio changes to 9.5:1 to allow more boost in the T1 engine due to the difference in pistons and crankshaft.

I'd take the 2.0 Supra over both of those all day long.
I think I would consider it if it came with better brakes and a stick. Without those it is more a lookin tourer opposed to sport focused cars. Sure someone trying to look good would chose the Supra but most drivers would chose the other two against the 2.0 as it currently sit in the market

I donā€™t know what ā€œmost driversā€ would do and itā€™s great that people can pick what they want.

Iā€™m also not sure of the correct definition of a ā€œfocused sports carā€. I just know for me itā€™s a great, light, daily driven sports car that is pretty darn focused and fun when driving quickly through the mountains. Kinda the whole point for me.

Iā€™ve driven manuals for 30 years and I donā€™t miss that feature even though I understand the attraction and respect manual lovers. Thanks for acknowledging that itā€™s a ā€œlookin tourerā€ too as Iā€™ve taken it on several 3 hour trips in great comfort (Iā€™m 6ā€™2ā€) with almost 40mpg as a bonus!
