You can change the settings to shut the accessories down when the door is opened. Can make a difference if you take a lot of short trips. Everything staying on for 6 or 7 or whatever it was minutes after you stop, turn the car off, and get out is just dumb.

Not sure if jchadwell's comment is the same as what I'm going to suggest, but what I do is go using the idrive control, there is a function where you can turn off the vehicle; press the bottom RH side button (note, my vehicle is RHD, not sure if controls are same orientation) after you turn off ignition, a "switch off vehicle" or similar option comes on the screen, select that and everything turns off.

It’s under one of the settings (vehicle or system, can’t remember which). It’s something about “turn off when door is opened.”

Yes. Something like this. It’s been almost 4 years so I also don’t remember exactly which menu it’s under. You can find it in the owners manual.
