For the past few weeks, it’s been making some other low pitch, quiet sound. When letting off the throttle, it made some sound like a low pitch fan sound turning off. Today, it became this louder whining sound.
It seems like the car needs to be under load. Revving in park makes no noise. Revving in drive, but with the breaks held, makes the noise.
Does it sound like a blown turbo? Could it be the belt? Could it be a intercooler’s fan? How much of a repair could it be and would it be okay to limp to a shop?
