I didn't see where OP is looking for track pads, so I deleted my post because that's what I discussed. It looks like she just wants a better-than-stock pad, for which I haven't run so have no recommendation.
Hawk HP+ sounds like a good fit. And @nibble approved!

I agree the hb+ are a good option. So no one talks about power stop z26. These are street pads but above stock. Not too pricy to try. If you are still at hpde 1 or 2 levels these could be an option. Past those levels then would go with hb+ until you out run the heat range in those but would then be at hpde3/4 levels and would want more of the track pads everyone is mentioning. The full track pads however are not for daily driving as you cannot get them to the operating temps on the street

What do the HPDE "levels" mean?

Hey guys, I feel that the stock brakes on my ‘24 don’t have the aggressive initial bite as I prefer. My comparison is the stock stuff on my ‘20 M4cs which I have owned for nearly four years.

So even though the car is still brand new, I thought I’d ask for recommendations for an easy pad swap that will have a bit more bite. Stock feels a bit soft.

My goal with my Supra is to get it to sort of class up to my M4cs with more brake bite, and equally as stiff and flat for suspension as it as well.

I will be swapping to MSS HAS and setting it really to a maximum of 15-20mm of lowering as I am fine with the chassis dynamics, and I have no desire to slam it. I just want it a bit sharper than it currently is in every way. From feedback on this forum, it seemed that the conclusion is that MSS is the best choice for someone wanting to do springs only and have zero to a light drop.

I also realize I am setting a high bar here having a ‘20 CS which was the final iteration of the F8x generation. Prior to that I had a Focus RS and my car was the east coast R&D car for Mountune USA, so it had literally everything upgraded. So it’s safe to say that after so many years both drivers in my home prefer a really aggressive street car with a strong preference over dynamics and feel over a cushy ride.

In the past I’ve used Hawk HP, EBC and I think Powerstop as well as upgrading rotors, but I just wanted feedback from others that is still relatively current and relevant to my car. I truly have no idea if what’s good for a ‘20 Supra is the same for a ‘24 - no idea of stuff was upgraded along this generation.

Brake dust is a reality and I’m okay with it. I like the idea of getting my feet wet with auto-x and getting my car on a track, but I need training and experience that I don’t have. It’s something I never truly considered in the past due to being much heavier of a person in my youth, but now I take care of myself physically which means I’ll be more physically capable as well.

I also am highly considering PSC2’s but will more likely move my 275’s to the front and go with 295 or 305 in the rear. I want to take a different approach on this car and improve chassis, tires and braking before adding any horsepower. It’s a great car so far, just much softer than my CS, and I’d like to close that gap.

Bloke,

Ive been running CSG pads they are very good but they are not worth the kidney and left testicle i had to donor to afford them. I will be trying Project MU clubs pads next. Tyres just use Nangkan CRS in 275/40 18s and get some cheap track rims. It will be much more affordable in the long run compared to blowing away cash on PSC2s.

my 2 cents anyway

Cheers

NASA run groups. - high performance driver education. level 1 is beginner, level 4 advanced. Then is TT for time trial and then race group. So depends on the level he is running. If he is just driving to the track and at more beginner speeds and levels. Then does need a full track pad. If is at the more advanced levels then would want the higher levels of track pads

Agreed. I'm pretty familiar with pad requirements. I just didn't know what the HPDE levels meant. Thanks for the explanation, brotha. I'm not familiar with NASA stuff.

IDE rant, not directed at anyone specifically:

Why do so many people assume everyone who participates in vehicle forums is male and in the US? (Not just on this forum). It’s a big world with billions of people with varied backgrounds and experiences. The more people feel comfortable/welcome, the stronger a community becomes.

/ End rant.

I love cars, I love motorcycles, but I learned many years ago that these were not places for an overweight queer woman born in 1982, like at all. In the early aughts I was trained as a Mercedes-AMG technician and left the field by the time I was 24.

I learned to not engage in communities because people are/were awful. I’d just get a little knowledge on what brands are best for various mods and then never come back. I sat on the sidelines and never engaged.

In a nutshell, I’ve lost 100lbs in the past year, gotten fit AF, had lasik, started to finally embrace and not fight my curly hair, and done a million things to better myself (personal care, therapy and a personal trainer).

Right now I’m motivated AF and I want to embrace the stuff that I’ve always been into, but for reasons was hesitant to.

I want to get into car communities again, but above all, I want to get into track racing.
Great story! I wish more people focused on themselves 1st, the rest falls into place after that so much easier ? Welcome to the club. You are going to love tracking the car ?. Hawk HP+ or the CSC double duty pads will be fine in the beginning. If you don’t mind some dust, Project mu club racers & Hawk DTC 60s (front) 30s (rear) are both a lot of bang for the buck! I run the Hawks all year round down here in Florida. So can only offer “summer” like feedback.

1) Most peeps on here are guys. If I was on a designer purse ? forum, I’d be okay with someone saying gals in general
2) Context, bigger picture. He’s (whoops I said he, could be she) just responding. You can tell it’s not directed at anyone. Or intent was to offend. Thus, not worthy of mentioning -ranting as you say.
3) I refer to my car as she. You can refer to yours as he. Does it really matter?
4) My wife isn’t offended. She drives cars too.

See. Not so bad If you don‘t let the little things get to you and stick to cars. We all love em ?

How quickly does the dust from the 60/30s eat up your wheels?

I got a set for an upcoming track day but heard they’ll f up some wheels and am debating swapping back the other pads after track days to prevent any damage.

You won't see permanent damage from using them. It's letting the dust sit and get wet. Ceramic coat your wheels and/or wash after track day with some Iron-remover and you'll be okay.

I used to change the pads, long ago. What a pain in the ass. So I just leave my track pads on. I get tons of dust. I have OEM wheels, and 2 sets of track wheels. I prefer my black track wheels over my gold ones, aesthetically. As for its real purpose, the car stops really fast, repeatedly. Any decent track pads will make lots of dust.

Curious, how do you like those?

Only had them on the rear and they provided better balance with the stock front calipers. I had changed to the Essex AP Racing front and rear after I was getting serious brake fade on the stock setup at MidOhio when running the Pro circuit. The Essex setup was fabulous with DS2500 but I put the stock setup back as my older son was starting to track and I wanted him to have the nannies. I didn't like the balance of the car so I changed the rears to the Pagid Yellows and they really evened out the braking, much more balanced but I only drove the setup at Atlanta Motorsports but I wanted something closer to the AP Racing but with the nannies. Changed to the Brembo setup from Signature. They use a rear bracket which allows the use of the electronic parking brake from a Tesla and then the calipers are Brembo from the Camaro ZL1. Much better feel and balance than stock using Endless pads. Look very nice as I got yellow calipers. By the way, the yellow calipers turn orange when hot.

Not a fair comparison but in my experience which was track and street, I routinely drive HPDE level 4.
AP Racing
Signature Brembo kit
Stock with Pagid Yellow rear (Adding Pagid to front may equal Brembo?)

I’m really interested in front brake pads. For the rear, Hawk DTC30s have been more than plenty for me. I know Pagid is huge with Porsche. I tried their DOT4 fluid in a pinch. It worked for one weekend then I went back to Castrol SRF (wetter longer). A Pagid rep was in the shop recently and asked me why I don’t use his pads. He didn’t realize his line up was so limited for our standard 3.0 caliper.

https://www.pagidracing.com/en/products/racing-brake-pads.html

He was supposed to get back with me. The only front set I could find was on Turner MS. If red or yellow line, I‘ll give them a go.

Interesting line up of cars you have. What brought you to the Supra? Lotta bang for the track buck? And how does she compare with your other track cars?
