I had my wife call to schedule an oil change for my ‘23 Supra (bought brand new in 09/2023) She says the person at the Toyota dealership says Oil Changes are no longer free because the car has less than 2,000 miles on the odometer.

I’ll call them again on Monday morning to double check… but was wondering if anyone has run into problems with ToyotaCare oil changes when they don’t drive the car often? I change my oil every 6 months regardless of mileage.

Umm.. firstly, I'm not sure why you have a car that you don't actually drive. Secondly, dealer oil changes for the Supra are every 12 months.

Not absolutely sure but I think there’s a time limit too. I don’t think has to do with the mileage. I had 1200 ish on mine and asked them to do one of the free ones and they did it - right after the first track day. Second one was around 5000. Now I do my own.

I bought my Supra new in '21 and it has like 2,800 miles on it now - I work from home and its a fun car for nice weather. I have changed the oil once at 1500 miles, and then just changed the oil recently again at 2,800.

I always thought these cars were third fun cars for people - I am always surprised when people daily drive this thing as in my personal opinion it isn't super practical.

There is such thing as fuel dilution -unburnt fuel gets into the oil and breaks it down, with new synthetics I believe they resist this more than others, but I usually don't go past two years letting the car sit without changing the oil.

Oh, people definitely daily them. Mine’s at 45K miles after 4.5 years of ownership.

Out of my two cars, the Supra is easily the more practical (and way more modern) one.

Of course, it helps that I’m in Central Texas, where winter’s mostly a rumor—only a few cold days here and there.

Maintenance isn’t exactly cheap if you stick to the recommended schedule—especially if you’re doing shorter oil change intervals (every 5K miles). ???

I don't daily mine but I still get in around 10,000km per year. Seems a waste to have such a nice car sitting in the garage. But it's your life.. lol.

I‘m glad he has such good restraint. I take mine out a lot more. But I live in sunny FlowRida. I can bitch and moan about how hot it is, get in the car, hit the max AC button, calm my ass down & go do something unpractical or my honey do list. At least until next October & I can start putting some decent track miles back on her again.
