If it’s moved over to the manual drive mode position it just bangs on the limiter for me. I don’t let it do that for long.
Same here. I never run in manual mode without being in Sport. And tend to do this in first while making a turn and I didn't think to position my hand to change gears. I hear the engine start to rev up but my hands too far away. It bangs the rev limiter, doesn't up shift, and pedestrians stare at you wondering what the hell. Embarrassing for a guy that spent last 6 years DD a manual. The auto in manual mode != true manual.

My 2020 doesn't shift until I move the paddle or shifter. That said I've never bounced it off the fuel cut for more than a second or so if that. you def feel it happening but it's very smooth.

Manual sport mode or just normal manual? I have bounced off the limiter hundreds of times in sport manual.
I’m in a 2020 and it will automatically shift if in M+Sport and hit the limiter.

FWIW, the only time this has happened to me is when I’m WOT. Sounds like some of you experience no auto upshift in situations where you’re not at WOT. Maybe the car thinks you may be coming off throttle soon.

This would actually be kind of ideal. The trans tune in my GTI eliminates auto up shifts in M mode because it was too conservative. Maybe the Supra’s stock trans tune gives a balance of both -hitting the rev limiter at WOT will auto upshift while hitting the rev limiter not at WOT will keep you in the current gear.

Edit: maybe this is the case only when “temporarily” going into M mode by hitting the paddles when in a non-M mode (i.e. shifter not to the left). ?‍♂

Not a Corvette.

100% hit it at WOT on track.

No idea then. I’ve also gotten the double upshift when trying to respond to me hitting the limiter and the car auto upshifting.

Edit: maybe this is the case only when “temporarily” going into M mode by hitting the paddles when in a non-M mode (i.e. shifter not to the left). ?‍♂

Maybe someone will test all the scenarios for science.

Is this a 21+ thing? My 2020 gladly bangs off the rev limiter in manual.
ya same with my 2020, I could keep it pinned at the limiter in manual all day in sport mode, in normal it will auto up shift at the redline.

Happened to me “once” believing the car would automatically up shift at redline… not happening. 2021 in manual sport mode in 1st from a light.

I’m not alone! Are you tuned?
Yes, on ecutek.

However, I hit the auto upshift in M+Sport mode when stock, for sure.

Edit: maybe this is the case only when “temporarily” going into M mode by hitting the paddles when in a non-M mode (i.e. shifter not to the left). ?‍♂

21’ chiming in here. I was turning into a corner and my dumb ass forget it was in manual mode. WOT and I hit the fuel cut off mark, definitely felt it, that’s for sure. No auto upshift like others have mentioned.

This makes me almost want to go to/past redline at the track. Almost… I’ve over-rev’ed my S2K too many times and paid for repairs as a result. The race guys at Sick Sideways always told me to shift about 500 rpm before redline, when getting close and do this for any car. This was years ago. So now with all this wonderful torque, I’m manually shifting in sport mode on track way before the redline and the car has performed beautifully. The only time I’ve driven in auto is per Jesse’s instructions on doing a log/pull. I’m not a fan of either auto mode, normal or sport. I do like that it downshifts even in manual mode when rpms get too low. Nice to know it may upshift in manual mode if needed or even cut power as a safety feature :)
