Hi all, I saw a review on the match bmw up 7dsp and I'm considering the upgrade but reading it, it only has 7 channels, how many channels does the stock supra have as I want to retain all speakers at first and may do those upgrades at a later date.

I like the fact you can programme the sound curve for each speaker on the dsp, so in theory you can make the subs only have up to 100hz instead of 400hz as an example...

You are going to want to go with a Match up 10. Believe me, my stereo shop spent weeks trying to figure this one out.

Mind me asking what you are looking to achieve with just a DSP and not upgrading the speakers too? Also how do you plan to apply the signal to the Match, LOC or MOST25?

i'm currently undecided on what route to take, i've got some Vibe optisound bmw 8 "subs" which should be direct replacement but i'm unsure how the lower ohms would react to the stock system at present, i'm also wondering whether to just rock an underseat type subwoofer to get the lower end and either leave the speakers stock or install the vibe speakers if they work for the midrange better than stock...

i've done a bit of research regarding ohm rating and apparently newer solid state can handle it, it'll just be louder so i just have to watch volume control incase the speakers start clipping?

also i think other bmw models run 2ohm 4ohm and 8ohm on the same HK amp, i maybe wrong but i was going to try them first to see how they behave before fully installing them.

Your ohm shouldn’t matter. Unless your running under 2 ohm. Then you will see problems w the stock amp. I’m sure all the factory speakers are 4 ohm, so 8 ohm will show a lot less power and 2 ohm will show more power of course.

I wouldn’t really recommend this route though. The factory layout Is so poor and your throwing good money at a bad setup

The sound situation is pretty bad in this car. Swapping only speakers has not resulted in better sound for anyone.

The best route of action would be the following according to money spent:
1. @tadda solutions for the front door's and sub enclosure.
2. OEMAudio+ system.
3. Complete custom system.
4. Trade in for a M2C.

Let's reopen this thread.

I am interested in adding an aftermarket DSP amplifier to the factory installation in my Supra.

The car is factory equipped with 2 front door speakers and 2 rear subwoofers only ... that's everything (sic!). I have not dismantled the trunk upholstery yet but it seems to me that there is no factory amplifier (AMP) there, just a RAM module. I have initially checked these 2 amplifiers:

- Fenix MatchUp8: https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/m...ifiers/up-8bmw

- Phoenix Gold ZDA8.8: https://phoenixgold-eu.com/product/z...dsp-amplifier/

They are both available with dedicated BMW harnesses.

I'd like to replace current OEM 2+2 speakers but keep the factory wiring. Add a central speaker and two rear speakers behind the seats. So change from 2 to 7-channel output:

#1 >> left door speaker + tweeter

#2 >> right door speaker + tweeter

#3 >> central speaker + tweeter

#4 >> left rear speaker + tweeter

#5 >> right rear speaker + tweeter

#6 >> left subwoofer

#7 >> right subwoofer

To do that, I need to put new wiring for speakers #3,4,5.

Can somebody help me with harness adaptation? I think MATCH PP-BMW 1.7RAM shall work for me: https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/m.../pp-bmw-1.7ram

I already watched a few videos on YT and looked at the harness and amp connection diagrams, therefore I think I have an idea how to adapt the harness with new wiring but I'd appreciate if someone with car audio experience could cross check this before I start purchasing the parts, they ain't cheap

Also, is it possible to use a 4 channel AMP with 8 DSP channels, 8 RCA outputs and run new speakers (new wiring) using RCA outputs? Phoenix Gold has such option, just curious.

1st you need to figure out if you have the premium JBL system that runs off MOST digital interface or the base audio that is analog.

I have the base system. It has 2 speakers in each door, a speaker behind the seats on each side, a center, and the two 8" "subs". Not sure about your region model, but we do not have RAM modules. Only an amp.

I went with the Audison Forza 8.14 DSP that powers everything (I eliminated the center channel). I also added tweeters to the 2 rear side speakers. Technicpnp has harnesses based on which audio system you have

I replaced my OEM unit with the Alpha One Lightwave from Bimmer-tech. Love it!

I'm sure I have base audio, is there something more base than 2+2 speakers? I think only a "walkman" ;)

I wish I had such 'base' setup as you have in USA, but in Europe they really nailed it with 2+2 speakers only. I found a nice YT video, showing amp installation on exactly the same car as I have and as you say, there's no RAM, just AMP, which was replaced by Fisher Matchup8 DSP.

Interesting, I need to have a look at this Audison. There's much less work, if you skip the center channel. What's the sound quality?

The sound quality is night and day better with the DSP. The added power to all speakers makes a huge difference. I eventually replaced all the speakers except for the 8" with Morels as well. Figured if I was going so far as to get a DSP I might as well take advantage of it with better speakers.

OK, so I removed the trunk side cover and I found out that I have ASD only (I have Sport package) which means all speakers' wiring is already in the ASD connector ... which is an excellent news.

I see that wires: "black-green & purple-yellow" and "white-black & blue-black" which go out from each subwoofer, go directly into the socket. At least what it seems like.

Can somebody help me to understand rest of the wiring in this socket? Pictures attached.

Do you not have an amp right next to the ASD?
