I am currently on OEM wheels and I have reset the car countless times but my speed is reading wrong.

Has anybody else ran into this issue?

I'm in a 2020

You can use Bimmercode to code it out if it bugs you. Pretty much all German cars do this.
Yes but unfortunately, even after coding it out, the Cruise Control continues to read the original uncorrected speed, which has always irked me.. unless someone's found a way to code the discrepancy out from there too? 🤷‍♂️

European here. As stated in the other threads the programmed speed discrepancy in digital dashboards is mostly an European* thing.
It is very useful around speed cameras, both camera and vehicle have a little buffer -> helps.

I guess the cruise overreading is done keeping the above in mind? Like the "assist".

*I didn't realise until a few years ago it is not the same in the US for most vehicles. I assumed it was standard everywhere.

In Australia a speedo that is within <10% is considered within spec. Our cameras, however are far less tolerant.

Mine does it too... 2026 MY. I think the truly annoying part of it is the added miles to the car. I can deal with the speed being wrong, but if you think about it, if it is 5-10% off and it is adding mileage to the odometer, then when you're at 110k miles (per odo), the car has actually seen between 100-105k.

I still like the car and between the 3 issues I have with it; the speedometer being off, vibration at 65-70MPH (I think it is the driveshaft or other mechanical, not tires), and an oil leak (which I haven't investigated yet). I'm still not that displeased. I have always been a fan of Toyota and understand this car is mostly, if not entirely BMW. I think more than anything, I am a little surprised that Toyota was willing to put its name on it.

That's not how it works. What you visually see on the dash is different than what the BDC uses for mileage. There is a raw speed and then it does the math to add the speed buffer and then report that on the speedo.

If what you said was correct there would be like 10,000 lawsuits.

What WOULD change things are different diameter tires, however, if someone changes that from OEM spec, it's on them and the car company will wash their hands of it.

I found that while cruising, if there is a sudden down hill the car needs a moment to react to the increase in speed. On my car it is a 2 mph difference, but it keeps the car within the max allowed speed limit, so I'm okay with it.

I'm also okay with people putting ketchup on their hotdogs.. :puke:

Highly recommend Currywurst then. I think I ate this 4x a day last time I was in Berlin.

That looks delicious! This is the way....I'm from Chicago, and regardless of the "no mustard" thing, I put it on all my hotdogs. Even used to bring my own when places refused.
