Fun and Boring ones
Greetings.

I visited a Toyota dealer in January that took a deposit and they said it could be up to a year. I guess with Toyota just publishing that production will end in 2026 this is reassurring but the new tariffs are not.

I put down the specs I wanted but you can't order from Toyota and I really want a manual. Dealer tells me I am first on their list for their next allocation. For me automatic is no-go especially on a car like this. Asking especially people in the industry or if you know any more than I, do you think I will be able to get one with the last production run or is it too late. Any idea if I can still get one, if its too late or when next production is and when I can secure one?

Many thanks

You'll have much better luck simply stalking the Toyota inventory page in a 500 mile radius. You'll be able to see right away when the spec you want gets allocated to a dealer in your area. Call them immediately and place a deposit at that time. I tried the whole, "place a deposit at my local dealer" thing, and it took forever. Found my spec across the state and just took two months to get in.

Your dealership can also trade allocation if someone else has your desired spec. But I agree with Kan, just stalk the pages and you will likely find what you are looking for and can get onto it.

Totally understand wanting the manual, but have you driven an automatic yet?

Its seriously a very fast car with the auto and the ZF transmission is right below a PDK with how quick it shifts.

yea, I drove the 8spd and hated it. Was my least favorite thing about the car back in 2021.
My Toyota dealer here in CA has 2 of them so they're out there. Only 4 colors left.

If you are open to used ones, I am seeing people selling them online. I am not willing to sell mine yet, but will most likely sell next year. Have a 2023 mt blue premium.

The Toyota dealer inventory website is your friend. Pick a zip code and you'll see all the dealers within a 500 mile radius. You'll see what they have in stock, what is on the way to the dealership by truck and what is on the way to the dealership on the boat from Japan.

I wanted a black manual. I have the 8 speed auto in a Rav 4 and would never want it in a Supra!I I shopped 15 to 20 zip codes and found 2. One going to a dealer in Ohio that was 2 months out and one going to Gainesville, GA. that was just 7 to 14 days out.

I called the dealership and the sales rep had no idea they were getting a Supra. In less than 30 minutes he confirmed the car and I put down my $1000. A week later I rented a car, drove from SW Florida to Gainesville and picked up my car. I spent the night learning what I could about the car in a motel parking lot and then drove it home the next day.

I had a 2021 Mazda Miata I loved and the Supra was quite a change. It took me a couple of weeks to get it set up the way I wanted it (Bimmer code and some exterior details). Now I love the Supra way more than I loved the Miata.

Just a gentle reminder that the 8spd in your Rav4 is not the same 8spd in the Supra. Completely different manufactures and units.

Ill help you out Ron. I have the 8sp in an X5, "and would never want it in a Supra!I"

all kidding aside, @MisterSkiz is right though, the supra gets the ZF which is a quite impressive automatic. BUT still an automatic.

+1 for this. After 3 deposits locally for 18 months and no progress. Did this and got one reserved that was incoming.

Find a dealer offers a good price and willing to trade with other dealers. Alternatively search for allocations within 500 miles and talk with whoever got the one you want.

If you act now and lock an allocation, chance is you’ll get vehicle delivered some point around June/July.

Put down deposit and lock on a singles dealer before locking the allocation is the worst idea. Given the current production numbers, any specific dealer has a pretty low chance to get a Supra allocated to them. The spec they got is totally random. Getting one that matches your preferences is extremely low if not zero.

I put a deposit down for the dealer to swap my 8speed from a new Rav4, is that a bad idea? I like my Rav4.

If I could only drive that beautiful 6 speed on track… I could really compare. And you could drive mine ?

Did you say HAD?!? Noooooooooo……. Talk about best of both worlds. Even my less HP 2016 ND is a blast throwing that ~2300lbs (6 speed to boot) into corners on my way to work ♥. Both so different but both so much fun ? ?. We coulda worked out a cash & swap trade. Especially with you living so close ?
