Deposit made, have VIN, dealer doesn’t have much more information

Hi all, I put a deposit down and signed papers for a 2022 Supra 3.0 a couple of weeks ago. I have a VIN, and they’re saying it is here already in the US. Dealer is telling me it’s in transit, they also went as far as saying it’s on a truck to the dealer. However, when I try to get more detailed information, e.g., where the car is at, estimated arrival, etc., they say they don’t have that info. Should that information be available to the dealer selling the car? How much info. can they actually see when it comes to tracking the Supra?

If it's on a truck to a dealer it shouldn't take more than a few days. My dealer was able to tell me to the point before it was on a truck. Maybe they don't want you to have an eta so you don't have your financing ready.

When I ordered my C63 a few years ago it was like that. I didn’t know it was there until basically the day it showed up. It seems like they are kept somewhat in the dark as well.

My salesperson was great too. He sent me everything he got as far as eta and his documents were relatively vague from the dealer and Mercedes’.

My dealer was only able to tell me when my car was on the ship after it left port in Europe and when it arrived in port in the states. Then maybe a week later it arrived at the dealer lol. Cars can be stuck at the port for a day, a week, or a month, it's difficult to know anything beyond that.

I pretty much gave up asking for updates when my car transport went on hold in late August. None the less, I got the call Friday that it just arrived, and we picked it up Saturday! My wife and I (it’s our 3rd car) love it. It’s a nice change up from my ZL1 from time to time.
