DME question boomod3

Hi all, i was trying to figure out if i need to bench unlock in order to tune.
I will buy a license tonight if i'm able to tune.
This is what bootmod3 said when i have it plugged into the car:

Yeah you need a bench unlock, mine said the same thing. Just got it unlocked and tuned.

Awesome, thanks for the info! Did you end up going with a bootmod3 tune or custom on a dyno?

I am just using a BM3 OTS tune for now, might get a custom tune in the future.

Right on, is it a noticeable difference?

Mine also said bench unlock needed but It didn't. Did you do the recall? If not, pretty sure you do not need a bench unlock. Even now, the app tells me I need a bench unlock, however I have flashed my ECU at least 30x at this point.

Also have a 2020 LE.

That's exactly where I'm confused and want to make sure i don't blow $400 on an unlock i don't need.
I bought the car back in February with 6k miles so I'm not positive if it has the recall.

Does your center screen go full width with carplay, etc?

I have Samsung unfortunately, is that a good sign if it has the recall done? If so I'll borrow a buddies iPhone soon.

Man i gotta figure out if i need the unlock or not lol. The car is quick but I've gotten used to it and have the itch to get more power.

I wonder if there is another date cutoff for oddities like yours? Maybe all LEs made the cut?
