I'll try it. thank you

Around 232f (111c) at ideal, cruising 185f~194f (85c ~ 90c), a couple of hard accelerating on the street and it raises quickly to around 257f (125c).

I'm more concerned about track use. I'm also going to try and use thicker engine oil. currently, I'm running the OEM spec 0-20.

I'll ask him. Thank you.
Yes, higher viscosity oil is needed for aggressive driving. The reason 0w-20 is speced is for economy, not max wear reduction. With you temps, I would not push oil changes past 5K with full synthetic, shorter with dino. I would start a case with Toyota, and follow their instruction to have a dealer inspect. This will CYA on warranty. It's possible you have an issue that needs attention...maybe as simple as bleeding air out of the cooling system.

My supra sits at 232 during normal street driving when she's hot... I'm bothered by it, since it's not even summer yet.. let us know if thicker oil helps.

Thicker oil will increase sytem temperature

higher viscosity = slower flow = more heat transfer = higher temps

thinner oil = better cooling properties/less pressure
thicker oil = more oil pressure/less cooling

as a huristic, you should run the thinnest oil you can (synthetic) to ensure good cooling properties while maintaining oil pressure in-specification (or however your engine builder has set-up the engine)

I'm quite curious if anyone running the Fluidyne aftermarket heat exchanger sees any appreciable drop in temps (general engine temps that is... obviously, but should help oil slightly as well). I'm considering it just because I see 110F+ days regularly in the summer and expect that to negatively effect performance possibly. I don't know if I believe a 40 degree intake temp drop just from that... but if true, seems $650 well spent. I'd also be interested in aftermarket options for oil cooling but harder to find.

@absaifan - You're one of the few on here with higher average summer temps than I have. Definitely keep us posted on what you see. I haven't seen anything higher than 118C, and then rapidly dropping to ~90C (assume when fans come on full) then back to 110C or so at idle after drive.

However, all of that is with ambient temps under 25C. I can only imagine what a ~48C day would do to those temps.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease... there I was being a worry pot with my operating oil temps between 221F - 230F in our hot and humid climate. Was also worried that my choice of oils may have been poor. Was running Lucas Oil's Euro Blend 5w40 for 1000miles got worried due to temps and changed to Motul 300V 5w30 only to find that the operating oil temp range was as your reference.

I use my Supra as drift car and the engine oil often reach 150 Centigrade degrees, then, the safe mode starts a reduction of power until the oil goes down the 145C.
I'm also looking for someone that has already found and installed an oil radiator or other solutions to reduce the temperature... thanks much for help!

No, both Rich at Doteki and Serg at Simply Racing are dishonest scammy people. Stay far away.
What made you say that? Serg has been taking care of my car with zero issues
