I noticed that my exhaust flap pretty much never closes. Normal should close it, but it doesnt.
I realized that many EU models and also AU models have this same problem. I had the stock muffler before and never ever heard the flap open and close depending on the mode, and now when I have a Remus system, it's the same behaviour.

Has anybody ever solved this on the EU and AU models? Is this something that you have to code into the ECU?
Im tempted to get rid of the OPF or the cat and as the sound be much louder, it would be nice to have a valve that actually closes sometimes. :D

I think it's a lot more clever than initially thought. I believe it closes while driving in certain gears, in normal mode.

It also doesn't help that the muffler on the Eu and Au models is massive, so the open valve doesn't sound much different to closed - its is very quiet.

if your supra is not locked you can tune for delete cat and opf and use the valve open in sport and close in normal mode or alway open :)

Yes it's definitely in the ECU though. I looked inside the exhaust when I had stock muffler, it still didn't do anything. Not clicking sound and no valve opened. Looks like I have to solve in via a tune. :)

Yeah, I believe thats the only way to go. Have to talk to a tuner about this. Hopefully they can solve it through Ecutek or MHD.

I don't know about the EU or AU exhausts, but in the US the valve doesn't do anything whether opened or closed on the OEM exhaust.

So it seems that their so called "active" exhaust is total BS then :D Now I payed 2500 USD for an axle back system that I can't really control ?

Although I saw this video which seem to confirm my thought that the US models still differ from the EU and AU models...

Right.. when the value doesn't change, of course it says the same. And we all know the pops/bangs are from a tune, it has to be. The value absolutely changes the tone, that was just an idiotic test.

Also that guy is an idiot. lol.

The value isn't fake, it clearly works.

as the video points out, the AU model has a different active exhaust valve set up. I believe EU cars as well (there is a thread in the Europe sub group).

The valve is closed on cold start, till the car is warmed up and revs settle. Then the valve opens. I am guessing the valve may close under certain drivinf conditions (normal mode). It’s also open in sport mode.

you can use BimmerLink to set the valve to be open, closed or left in auto.

Can you really code that behaviour in Bimmercode? I mean, to code it to always close in normal but open in sport.

No, it’s not coding with BimmerCode. It’s a manual override setting via BimmerLink. Meaning you have to select if you want the valve to be open, closed or on auto (default program). And BimmerLink has to be activ for it to apply.

Once you disconnect BimmerLink, the setting returns to the default program as Toyota coded.
