Yeah, everything points at Aston for 2026. I wonder if Alonso chooses to retire or if Lance chooses to go race WEC cars to open up a seat. I really hope it's Lance choosing to move on...
Alonso and Max are already talking about doing Le Mans together. I don't see Alonso staying around much longer, but if Lawrence wants that constructors title, he needs to have 2 good drivers, not 1. Or they'd be in the same boat as RedBull.
Idk if Lawrence would want his son to be overshadowed. I have a feeling Max will be staying or going to Merc esp since their recent resurgence
Yeah it's possible. Mercedes might just nail the new engine regs and start off unbeatable like they did when the hybrid engines were introduced.

Hope for the 1st part of your answer and not for the latter ?

I think Max is already going to Aston Martin. Lawrence Stroll has spent Billions on getting the best everything. Designers, facilities, engines, you name it. Only thing missing is the best driver *Lewis Hamilton*. Newey loves Lewis, Honda adore Lewis, Lewis is the best driver on the grid, he wants to do Le Mans and Aston Martin just so happens to have the Valkyrie AMR ready to go, Verstappen's racing team is using Aston Martin cars, it's too much coincidence. RedBull are on a downward slope. All the great personnel has left for other teams.

Fixed that for you ;)

I kid i kid

What a lap! What he's doing with that car is beyond belief. He should be fighting the Ferrari's, not the McLaren's with that POS. Anybody can drive the fastest car to pole, but this is next level shit. I dont see him holding off the McLaren's for the win, because the margin is so small, and he won't keep that up for a race distance,

unless it rains.

Yuki is doing great with that car, he got a bit unlucky in qualy but up until that point he was right there. For a first weekend in that thing, and not be last, is a win.

McLaren really dropped the ball on their strategy not splitting Piastri and Norris, and not letting Piastri have a go since he seemed to be quicker.

Also, the cars are too big. That was a very dreary race to watch.

A 6L thing
Suzuka is usually a bit dull unless it rains.

However can't take away from the pace of the top 6 - that was essentially a flat out GP from start to finish, quite rare these days.

Short of the car breaking down, I don't think things could get worse for Max. Terrible start, terrible pitstops, terrible brakes, terrible decision to go on the hard tire, and somehow still managed a P6. Norris finishing P3 is again only 8 points behind, so not too terrible.
Piastri was flawless all weekend. Excellent job.
Rookies mostly did great.
Ferrari finally showed up with a good race.

I think it's time for McLaren to admit Oscar is the driver to back as the #1; he seems to have found that consistency finally.

Also, George Russell taking that malfunctioning Mercedes to 2nd place. If he can keep up his consistency and McLaren keep throwing away points, he might get into WDC contention. Tough for Antonelli getting screwed on strategy; he looks like future WDC material.

And wow, Red Bull absolutely butchered it. Slow car, malfunction in the pits. Max actually saying he's not in contention for the WDC this year because of the car. Seems like it's going to be a story similar to Mercedes of last year, in that 4th place no man's land.
