friend brought me a gift, how accurate is 3D scanning?

What are the chances I could reliably 3D scan something the size of about a 2"x 3" size? (I know nothing about 3D scanning or printing, for what it's worth.)

Detail isn't crazy intricate, its just a mounting piece.
