I have my car at the Toyota dealership right now with a request to update the iStep and iDrive software. They've agreed to give it a try. Hopefully I'll know more today.

Dealership just let me know they put a call in to Toyota first thing this morning to ask how to do this and they have not heard back yet. Now they say they aren't expecting a call back until tomorrow.

Just spoke to the dealership again. They've heard from Toyota and have been sent the software update. They are not planning to attempt installing the update until tomorrow.

Why does it always take them days to do the simplest things? Im half temped to forgo toyotacare and just get mine serviced at the local BMW dealership when its time. Worried if I do that and something goes wrong, Toyota will blame me for it not being serviced by toyota though.

My car is scheduled for Monday to tackle the wiper twitch issue and battery management error. I told the service manager that I want the car flashed to the S18T-21-03-xxx code. We'll see how it goes.
Definitely interested in their response on flashing that into a 2020

I wonder how it will even go on a 2021 more or less a 2020. I hope it works because I will definitely be doing it if it does

Well, we know this code exists on 2021s already. Seems that's what they're loading onto the most recent builds. I'm hoping, like with all BMWs, they have different releases for different cars. The two main differences are the newer Bosch DMEs along with the 6 port engines in the 2021s. But the software is more of a package that contains programming for all the various modules, so I'm hoping that specific releases have code for relevant modules based on build. So, my 2020 would get slightly different code for my older DME than say a new 2021, but things like transmission, electronic steering, iDrive and all the other components would pretty much be the same code.

Hopefully we can all just get it. lol. Next hurdle will be getting dealers to install it.

So with BMW, unless there was an issue that would be fixed by a software update, they'd charge you the hour rate just for a software update. If going to the dealership I'd say the screen is hard to see during the day time and ask for the software update as that has a remedy for it.

yes I’m using the wiper twitch and the below error as the catalyst for requesting the update. My research uncovered that the twitch actually does require a code update
