When the G8x LCI steering wheels came out, I loved the look and thought it would pair really well with the Supra.
Originally, I planned to just upgrade a few pieces of the OEM Wheel—magnetic paddles and a leather airbag cover to replace the OEM setup. Once I added it up, those two items alone were over $400. When I started looking at complete steering wheels with airbags, they weren’t much more than double that, so a full wheel swap made more sense.
My biggest requirement was functionality. I wanted everything to work like stock:
  • ACC distance control
  • Cruise control
  • Airbag safety
  • No error codes or warning messages
  • OEM+ Look/feel
After a lot of research, most options I found were in the $1.5k–$2k range, and it became pretty clear many of these wheels come from similar overseas suppliers.
I came across Yoki Lee at rebuildingworks.com and reached out to ask about customization and functionality. Yoki confirmed:
  • The wheel could be customized (even matched the interior stitching of my car)
  • It uses a unified 3-stage airbag
  • All buttons would work
  • Only potential downside was ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) following distance adjustment might not be adjustable
  • Magnetic paddles
After install, I tested everything—and the ACC distance adjustment worked. No error codes or warning messages at all and magnetic paddles feel great!
Communication with Yoki throughout the process was excellent.
Shipping was about 6 weeks total:
  • ~2 weeks production
  • ~4 weeks shipping
The wheel arrived very well packaged.
I’ve only put about 50 miles on the car so far (thanks, Ohio weather), but I’ve been very impressed with the quality.
For ~$1k, this upgrade really enhances the driving experience. Definitely worth it in my opinion.

Were the button control units brand new or re-used?

Yoki is a good guy! I’ve purchased from him before he had a website!

Vendors can order wheels with heating cores - coding instructions that worked for me can be found here:

General info:
Physical button is required to activate it and not native to the LCI wheels. On the LCI models it's all controlled by iDrive. To make it work, resellers will order a custom/modified trim from Aliexpress sellers like DH3 Auto Parts retrofit the button into the trim.
