I'd like to get one of those fancy LED steering wheels but am a little on the fence due to the thickness of the aftermarket wheels and particular to this thread, the operation of the Galaxy Pro LED lights and screen.

Specifically, I'd like to know if:

1. Can the screen in the middle can be configured with a custom image and can I upload/change it myself?
2. Can the screen be completely turned off - whilst retaining the use of the LED shift lights?
3. Can the above (2) be set as the default start-up behavior, ie: can I set it and forget it?
4. Any issues and/or experiences in general that I should know about before pulling the trigger?

If anyone has the Galaxy Pro version installed on their wheels and can spare some time, I would love to pick your brains about it. Please reply here or feel free to send a DM as I would very much appreciate as much information as I can get!

Thanks!

PS: Yes, I've reached out to @NitroYellowMKV about organizing a custom (and hopefully thin!) wheel.. just wanting some feedback on the Galaxy Pro LED/screen and its operation.

I wish I could give you a good review about the Galaxy Pro led, but I can't since mine no longer works after a few months, and I brought it brand new from company. I'm working with the company to find the cause of the issue. Maybe someone else has a better experience than me.

I've had mine installed for a little while and so far it's great.

Which company did you go through?

And here are the answers to my own questions, in case anyone else is interested:

1. Can the screen in the middle can be configured with a custom image and can I upload/change it myself?
Yes and no. A custom image can be uploaded but it has to be done via the company you purchased from. I sent the image off and they sent it back packaged as a *.kxl file which I couldn't otherwise identify. This service was free.

2. Can the screen be completely turned off - whilst retaining the use of the LED shift lights?
Yes. The company I bought my wheel from was very accommodating and customized the firmware to do just this. My customized firmware isn't actually displaying a blank screen either, it is effectively running with the LCD turned completely off, so it doesn't have that washed out blank screen look.

3. Can the above (2) be set as the default start-up behavior, ie: can I set it and forget it?
Yes, I was also able to set this blank screen as my default startup via a hidden settings menu.

4. Any issues and/or experiences in general that I should know about before pulling the trigger?
Too early to tell but the stock firmware seemed quite buggy with some minor (but annoying) graphic glitches. These all disappeared when I installed my bespoke firmware. I suspect the Galaxy Pro shipped with very old firmware and my customizations were built on a more recent version.

Also, I found that when using the iOS companion app, changing some settings would make them stuck - the toggle in the app no longer toggled the function on the wheel. Thankfully, the settings could be easily unstuck by using the aforementioned hidden menu on the wheel itself.

I'm guessing they could build you a wheel with just the single shift light option across the top at 12 O clock? There was no Supra wheel like that on their website but there was for other makes and they sound pretty accommodating for custom stuff.
Really like the style and performance application of the flat based wheels.

Sort of.

There's an older LED module kit that is a single set of lights across the top but it looks a bit dated for my money. The majority of manufacturers seem to all use variations of the LCD screen in the middle with shift lights along both sides setup.

From what I understand the wheels are completely customizable and any look/setup can be applied to any car wheel.
