If it's how the Toyota bigwigs can justify making new performance cars, so that they can use the branding to trickle down to basic cars, then I don't see much of an issue.

Audi, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, etc all do the same.

You can be as upset as you want about it, but the sales of the 4 billion stupid things like this are what give them the money to engineer the stuff WE want to buy. If not for things like the X5M, and the 330i M Sport, we wouldn't have gems like the M2 Competition.

If it helps keep the lights on at GR, so they can keep making things like the GR Yaris, I'm perfectly happy for grandma to be able to cross-shop a Yaris Cross GR Sport and an X2M35i.

I've already got my GR water bottle, GR Amazon Dot, GR keyring and my GR Issho soft toy all from when I ordered the Supra. Could do with an official GR jacket and cap tho...

I feel like GR in the States isn’t established well enough to already start diluting the brand. Like, make it mean something first if you plan on making GR stickers a selling point.

BMW has gone crazy with the ///M branding, too. I’m getting a new X5 M Sport for my wife instead of the standard trim because it looks better, but there are more M badges on that thing than the actual X5M. It’s dumb - I’ll debadge it day one.

But I 100% love the ///MKV badge so I guess I’m dumb, too.
