Yeah but when was that written? I remember when it wasn't going to be a problem to get a new GPU because they were going to make plenty of them too - or for that matter when toilet paper wasn't a rare commodity.
If you read all of my prior post in the thread I said "pre-COVID". I know things changed, but so far this is all the info we have.

Possibly but it still should go up as minimum wage does. It's like if my hourly rate was $10 more than minimum wage 10 years ago, it should still be $10 more than today's current rate but thats not the case. If they made the supra 10 years ago, it wouldnt be the same price as the last model, right?

I like how this depreciation thread is turning into an inflation thread haha. I am by no means helping.
Yeah, so the question becomes will a Supra depreciate faster than your money inflates?

Don't worry everyone, the inflation is transitionary!
My worry is what it's transitioning into - it hasn't yet declared what it truly identifies as, nor instructed me on which pronouns are expected when referencing it.

Hello,

I'm thinking of buying a 2022 Supra 3.0 Premium as my daily driver, but the thing that is holding me back is the depreciation. I normally like to buy cars that don't depreciate much, so the total cost of ownership is low. Right now it looks like the Supras are selling at or above MSRP which is crazy.

However, for those that are going to hold onto their Supras for the next few years, what do you think a Supra 3.0 Premium with 36k miles and 3 years old will be worth? Depreciation of $5-10k is something I could stomach, but not more. I'd normally buy a limited edition version, but the A91-CF version isn't worth it (also I hate the two tone interior).

Thanks for your thoughts,
Jimmy
Why not buy a new one instead of someone’s abused one? ??‍♂

It's hard to tell. Cars are normally a depreciating asset. Lately they have become a commodity. The artificially high used values from the shortages skew the historic values. For all cars. You best bet is to check the ALS for residuals. Even then I think the next year or so will be a crap shoot due to the shortages.

A rough estimate. Traditionally a new car on average will loose 15%-20% of the msrp the first year. About 15% the second and 15%third year. Plus sales tax if your state does not have a trade-in sales tax credit.

Paid 39K for my 2.0 last May. Hmm, guess dollars are inflating way faster than Supras are depreciating.

Haters are always so constructive. Thanks for the intelligent input. Your opinion on 2.0 vs 3.0 isn't even on point for the thread which is discussing depreciation across the board.

Don't worry about them. You got a nice car, you like it, and that's all that matters.

That said, I sure don't give a crap about depreciation.. Not like I'm going to be selling my Supra any time soon and paid cash.

Look at Snowblind’s post history (he doesn’t have many). They’re all rude… not really sure what his issue is so I’d just ignore his negativity.

By all accounts the 2.0 is an amazing car despite someone’s assertion from an Internet forum that they’re “crappy.”

People who look at cars like an investment are crazy to me.

Unless you're Jay Leno and you store this shit in a well maintained garage that is spot free, your shit going to go down in value.

Each time you drive it it goes down. Do things go up later? Yes, sure it happens. Look at some cars that social media/movies make popular like the R34s.

But most likely you ain't going to hit the lotto with this car so don't worry about depreciation and enjoy the car you worked hard to purchase! :)

12 months of ownership, 20k miles. The supra is my daily. I can fit all my military gear in the hatch just fine.
