Heated the trunk a bit too much.

From the fishing line I used to remove the spoiler.
Curious, how did the fishing line do that type of damage?? i guess im just going to have to forcefully rip off the trunk lip and slowly peel the tape...

fishing line does more damage than you think. Plus our trunk/paint is soft asf. Any sneeze on it screws it.

I have the same marks... except some of mine are fairly deep, I used fishing line as well, I bought my car secondhand so it could definitely be some from a previous owner, but definitely could be me as well... I pulled away from the fishing line and everything, I was quite surprised on how deep some some of the marks got into my car. Stupid battle scars I wear confidently, I do have some touch up paint I bought 2 years ago because of this, but definitely still procrastinating on fixing it

For my previous car I removed the badge with a hair dryer and floss. Safer option but definitely takes a very long time, and the floss snaps a lot ?

Scratched my trunk too, seems like we all did the same thing. ?
Scratched my trunk when opening the tailgate. Figured I‘d cover it up with a faux spoiler ?. Now after seeing all these posts, I should have just touched the damn thing up ?

I had the very opposite experience when I replaced my badges on the front and the rear although I did have one extra set of hands where I could see this being a huge help.

We would use the heat gun to get the badge warmed up without going overboard while the other person tried slowly prying the badge away. After we initially got one side up and able to get a finger under it just worked it off while continuing to heat it and it worked out perfect. Same thing with the rear and no problems.

Have not installed any spoiler yet on the car but if I do one it will be a functional spoiler. Will more than likely end up without one for the life of the car though since I've got no tracks nearby that would make me want to go full aero + spoiler

Fishing line goes through our paint like butter. Only install a duckbill if you never plan to remove it.

Or maybe refrain from using VHB tape. It is very aggressive. 3M makes lower strength tape in various strengths.

If I would list the things I have done to the car while “fixing” or adding things, you all would get a stroke.

it’s a badge of honor. Nobody will notice it unless you point at it.
