I need some help with reading my tunes, I am certainly no expert.

I have a detuned Visconti Stage 2 tune for 93 octane, and I’m using Ecuteck. I sent them the last tune you see below for review to Visconti last week, but I haven’t heard back from them yet. So until I do I thought I’d post here.

I can’t tell if I’m doing something wrong in running a log or something is amiss. My car is stock other than an AA Catback.

The first log is stock, and it shows what it looks like normally when looking at speed verses the knock sensors for all 6 cylinders. As you can see the knock sensors are all showing 0.1 to .2 values +/-.

The next log is my detuned stage 2 tune on 93 octane. This was taken on the highway, I was cruising and I hit the log start button and punched it. As you can see I get perfect 0 knock readings, is this normal, or is there supposed to be subtle variations in the knock values like the stock tune? What’s more concerning is that look how it knocks on cylinder #1 (-5.6 degrees!) when the car shifts, then at the end all cylinders knock (-3 degrees)von shifting and decel. What’s up with this? Why would it knock on shifting and decel?

ok, the first one was not WOT, the second one wasn't quite either, but can you explain why it must be at WOT to see if there are issues?

I repasted the second link, it was incorrect the first time.

In the second the little bit of knock retard is almost certainly fuel. Better fuel would clean it up.

For things like boost, fuel, afr, fuel pressure, etc. You need seconds of data for things to get dialed in, and since throttle input is used for calculation, varying it will adjust the params of the tune. You need to be WOT for at least a full gear, two is better, to really get a look at the data.

ah, ok. Man I use shell gas, from the same station for years, I guess anything is possible.

My tune is OTS. I'm concerned because I keep reading from various websites that any knock below -1 degree is concerning and I'm getting -5.6, and when I totally let off gas I get -3 across the board. What's that about? From what I'm readying -3 is definitely not good. But again, I'm no expert. I know that when I monitor the boost I get spikes between shifts which appears to be normal for these cars (from what I've pieced together at least).

I also wonder if knock is just a vibration/sound detection from sensors, when are cars up shift or downshift and pop and bang, could those trigger knocks? My be a stupid question, but oh well.

Default supra knock correct is -3. So if it wants to pull -0.1°, it's going to pull three. Three is the min. Rarely is it less than that unless you have the knock sensors detuned.

When you're not on the throttle, you'll see huge amount of retard in all cyls. This is fine.

Just wanted to make a quick post so this doesnt seem like something its not.

Greg is our customer, but hasnt asked us any of these questions.

To answer a couple of your questions, those live data parameters arent really labeled the best. It really should be ignition correction cylinder 1-6. They should be called this because when they populate values, it doesnt mean its actually knocking. For exmaple; when you lift the throttle after acceleration, youll see these parameters show negative values. This doesnt mean the car is knocking, it means its reducing ignition timing.

These ECUs are very complex and are constantly adding/removing ignition timing and that doesnt necessarily mean theres something wrong, it just means its doing its job. In fact, the factory tune has a substantial amount of ignition correction on 93oct.

Our OTS maps are designed to flash and go. We do not review logs or make adjustments on those tunes. Customers that would like reviews and adjustments need to purchase a custom tune. However since you mentioned our standard Stage 2 was too much power for you, we did make a quick revision to lower the torque output so you could be more comfortable with the car.

Feel free to text me if you have any questions.

- Marshall

Thanks Marshall. I did reach out via your website link last week and asked this question, or something along the lines of it, but maybe I wasn’t clear. I just figured you were busy so I tried to understand what I was seeing, obviously I didn’t do much but confuse things by the look of it. I just hate to keep bothering people over and over again.
