I installed an aftermarket hood a month ago and drove around with no issues . However today while driving on the high way the hood open light popped on. I double checked everything and the hood is properly latched. I also disconnected the battery for a few minutes and reconnected but light is still on (a new message did come on for parking assistance side sensor not sure if they’re related)

Has anyone ran into this issue before and found a solution?

List of mods in case it helps
2023 Supra mkv MT
EVS fenders (installed 1 month ago with fender line attached)
Jq werks steering wheel (installed 4 months ago)
Nitrons 1 way (installed 6 months ago)
Recaro pole position (installed 6 months ago)
No engine or engine bay mods

Did you install top side hood latches? Those CF hoods are known to flex, that could be why it’s triggering the sensor.

I maybe misunderstanding so please let me know but if you’re referring to the stock hood latches then yes I did transfer those over

These are the latches I mentioned. Also double check the hood bump stop adjustments.

before you start cutting anything, first make sure the warning isn't a false positive. have you checked the switch for continuity? you should be able to trigger it with a screwdriver to simulate a hood-closed position.

I did try to check to see if it was a sensor issue. I took the latch off the car and pressed

down the area circle in red with a pick but the hood open light remains on. Looking into it further it seems to be a common BMW issue. From what I read you can either add a resistor or swap out the latch assembly for a new one.

yup, that was going to be my next suggestion, try jumping the sensor wires and figure out if there is a break in the wiring harness.

Turns out the hood latch sensor/bracket was broken. Replaced it with part number 53510WAA03 and it resolved itself.

glad you figured it out before cutting holes in your hood (and not resolving the issue)

Hey OP, i have a 2023 and I cant seem to find the connector in the diagram. Could you give me some hints as to where I could find it?
It seems to me that I would need to remove the front bumper to access the connector. Rat chewed the wire leading to the sensor.
Tried tugging lightly to see where the wire leads and it goes to the bumper with no connector in sight.

You won’t need to remove the front bumper. To get to the connector you’ll just need to remove the fender liner behind the bumper
