How common is an issue like this that requires so much excess disassembly to replace a simple part?

Just curious if this is an extreme and rare example, or if this issue with the door latch is somewhat common.

And whether it's true that the GR being a BMW has a lot of this sort of non-Toyota efficiency when servicing it.

I love when people don't reference service manuals when working on a car then blame the car for confusing them.
He mentions it several times and says he found it poorly written but he did consult it.

But back to the question - is the door latch sensor a common or known issue with the A90? And is there anything else as cumbersome to replace as that on the car?

Personally, I can't think of anything else except maybe the rear hatch that would require so much disassembly, so I'm guessing he may be picking the worst possible scenario to make a point, rather than giving a fair shake to the serviceability of the A90 platform.

Are there other major faults that are common for the Supra that could leave you stranded? Saw someone post about how theirs has been sitting for months because a body control module part is unavailable so the dealer can't fix it.

I'm used to driving Toyotas and Hondas and they've never left me stranded. Hell, even a Dodge I owned was very reliable. I'd be hesitant to drop $60k on a Supra but have the BMW-ness of it leave me stranded and be not easy to fix.

Not a Corvette.

Modern BMW's are pretty reliable. My supra has been by far the most reliable car I have ever tracked. It has 60+ track days, 40 of which with over 500whp. 2300 laps and 51 hours of track usage. No issues.

That guy is a sensationalist, I’ve seen many of his videos. He also does this kind of sensationalism on the positive end of the spectrum; waxing poetic about all kinds of Toyota designs, etc - all of it either just for views or because he’s annoying. Not sure which, but probably both.

My guess is that it is extremely rare. Ahmed has mentioned in other Supra videos that they have been reliable.

Long overdrawn video about an outlier issue no one cares about.

This is first time hearing about this problem in the last 5 years being connected to the Supra community.
