Hello all!

Test failed system monitors:
Engine Misfire: Ready
Fuel System: Ready
Comprehensive Comp: Ready
Catalytic Converter: Not Supported
Evaporative System: Not Ready
Heated 02 Sensor: Not Ready
Oxygen Sensor: Ready
Secondary Air System: Not Supported
A/C Refrigerant: Not Supported
EGR Flow: Ready
Heated Catalyst: Not Supported
OBD Voltage: 14.84

Hopefully ya'll can give me a little help. Currently I have tested for emissions 4 times. All with different settings and parts etc. I currently did not experience any CEL warnings in any of the tests, as well as, I drove for about a minimum of 80 mi per test. I verified all the sensors have been placed correctly etc. You can see the test settings and parts etc. below that I have currently done. All of this has been done by myself, I am not sure if my tune settings are missing something that should be set to something or if any hardware issues. But I do not think the catted exhaust is bad. I am not sure why the system is reading that is still turned off even though I am on a flashed stock tune.

I verified if I can change through any BM3 maps using the steering wheel cruise control; but nothing shows up so I think the flash worked. Besides the fact I feel slower xD.

My mods list consist of upgraded exhaust, catless downpipe, stage 2 tune, stage 1 tran, carbon intake. I am currently on stock tune with catted downpipe.

If ya'll have any tips or tricks let me know because currently I am stuck and ran out of ideas xD. Let me know if ya'll have any questions.

Testing Settings Etc.:
1st- Initial test w/ cattless exhaust and stage 2 tune (obv fail xD)
2nd- Test w/ bmw (ebay purchased used 14k mi) stock catted exhaust and stage 2 tune set to stock bm3 setting.
3rd- Test w/ stock exhaust (same as 2nd test) and stock tune complete flash
4th- Test w/ stock exhaust (same as 2nd test) and stock tune complete flash w/ updated settings to OEM catalytic sensors.

Anything would help thanks ya'll!!!!

I know we are on different platforms, but I failed my first try and had to go back. Here was the thread I had with MHD: https://www.supramkv.com/threads/mhd-flash-and-o2-sensor-for-inspection-resolved.27724/

I will add, I found a cheap OBD2 scanner on amazon that could check sensor readiness and that gave me confidence to go back for another try and got the sticker without issue. I think this was the tool and will save you time and $ going back to the same place: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007XE8C74?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1

I would guess BM3 is different, but you must have a setting to set the sensors to ready? or OEM downpipe?

Alternative option: create an LLC in Wyoming and re-register the car in Wyoming to that LLC.

More driving since monitor isn’t ready. Go on highway and just drive nonstop high speed to heat up the o2. Drive til o2 monitor is ready. Thats according to California smog we don’t need evap system monitor to be ready.

Heated 02 Sensor will likely take multiple cold start cycles to get going.

Hi Jonathan-

I alluded to this in your other post:
https://www.supramkv.com/threads/e85-on-2020-supra.27638/#post-433347

I believe the root cause of your issue is the following below, as well as two of your monitors are not ready:
" Catalytic Converter: Not Supported "

This is basically showing that your BM3 setting for the Catalytic Converter (CEL) is set to "OFF" instead of "OEM" - as the test is not running.

When the above is set to "OFF" it will show "Not Supported" and you will be rejected.

In order to have the OEM/Stock emissions tests run you need to have the following set up in the General (All Slots): (Click on the smaller pictures - excuse the forum formatting)

You do not have to worry about the following:
Secondary Air System: Not Supported
A/C Refrigerant: Not Supported
Heated Catalyst: Not Supported

The "Heated 02 Sensor: Not Ready" sounds like you might need more driving time if it is truly set up correctly as "OEM" in BM3.

The "Evaporative System: Not Ready" is the hardest one to get ready. You need to drive the car with having under a half to a quarter tank of gas, get it up to warm, come back home and let it sit overnight. Then you need to start it from dead cold and drive again. It should now be "Ready".

Here is my car being rejected once due to stupid BM3 not setting the Cat test to "Ready". Below only the "Catalytic converter (CEL)" was set to "OFF" and "Cold Start (Cat Heating)" To "OEM" while I had my catless Titan downpipe and running OTS Stage 2 Flex Fuel Map.

This is my car passing with "Catalytic converter (CEL)" was set to "OEM" and "Cold Start (Cat Heating)" To "OEM" with my new AMS GESI Catted high flow downpipe and running OTS Stage 2 Flex Fuel Map.

You need to purchase "OBD Fusion" and check your monitors before you attempt to retest.

What catted downpipe is currently in the car that you are testing with? Please note that just because it is catted it might still not pass emissions - especially if its 200 cell type. (Edit: Just saw you mentioned its " bmw (ebay purchased used 14k mi) stock catted " so its an OEM BMW Downpipe that has not been modified. Im positive your changes are not taking effect on the tune.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

What everyone else has stated. It isn't the miles you drive, it's the driving style to make sure are readiness monitors are set correctly. Get a obd2 scanner to check
Did you ever figure out your issue where your BM3 tune was not running monitors even though you had them set to OEM?

No, but I found out through the BM3 founder while doing a remote support session that my ROM ID is one of the weird unique ones that has some issues. The support session was unrelated to this but I figured after that it's just another oddity.

It's no big deal for me because I can run the OEM rom for inspection.

I’m also on my 4th failed test. I’m going to try the recommended less than a half tank then cold start technique. The tech at the facility told me to look up drive cycle procedure for my specific model. So I’m going to give it another shot.

Thanks so much ya’ll for the posts!!!
To be exact this is the downpipe (link below).

With that being said, I didn’t have those settings u mentioned turned on besides the cat cel to OEM. I will turn the remaining ones and make sure the additional slots are also enabled and showing. I also didn’t drive the car as ya’ll been mentioning, I will test this out and same with the cold starts. I’ll update sometime this weekend.

Thanks once again ya’ll!

If it helps I got all my monitors ready with less than half a tank of gas

Another silly question...how are you flashing the car, with the cell phone BM3 app or a desktop with the ODBII to ethernet cord?

I always have issues when trying to flash with the phone and now always use the desktop application using a laptop.

This is what I use: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V3C47YD?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2

I used the phone, but my flash and everything works great I didn’t lose any connection etc.

Hello again,

Since my last post, I was only able to do the following:

1.) Re-flashed car from stock tune to stage 2 tune (just like MisterSkitz mentioned above). I verified that the cat heating and cat was turned on to OEM. (Only question I have is that in the images below I don’t understand what the downloading means above my maps after I completed the flash and changed all settings before flash, this is on iOS app)
2.) Drove a little over 80miles.
3.) One cycle of 40-45
mph min for 10, 60-65 for 5min, 30-35 for 5min, idle for 1.5 min, then drive normal. Once I got home for the night I let the car sit in idle again for 1.5 min, turned it off open door and closed it and waited for 10 min for it to shut off. I opened the door left right after XD. I then let the car sit over night and drove it this morning to work after I let the car have a cold start and idle till car warmed up and rpms went under 1k.

After all this driving (all drives were under half a tank of gas) and today’s morning drive (about 95miles total), I was only able to get these readings (image attached) in the ob2 cheap tester I recently got (thanks for the link XD)

Hopefully after today’s normal routines and drives I should have around 130 total miles added, I’ll re-do testing and see if anything changes.

Assuming nothing changes and still “fails” does anyone have any ideas why this still cat cel doesn’t turn on lol.
