Has anyone taken a stab at changing the visibility out of the car?

My biggest gripe about my Supra is the fact there isn’t much space between the rear view mirror and the iDrive display. I think an easier fix would be replacing the rear view mirror to something skinnier but wondering if anyone else has done something similar.

For reference I am 6’2

It depends where you want the visibility. There are concave replacement mirrors for the side mirrors which can help a lot. I have those on my S2000 which has about the same amount of visibility with the top up as the Supra and they help a ton.

If you want visibility out the front maybe look for a smaller rear view mirror. I'm6'3" for reference

Ordered A91 edition Supra
I'm 6'3 myself and actually found it less of an issue in the Supra than in other sports cars.
Swapping the rear view mirror won't do any good because behind it are a whole bunch of sensors for the wipers etc blocking the windshield.

For my other B58, I ordered European OEM mirrors, which are slightly convex. Though only slightly convex, they are a huge improvement and were well worth sending $75 to Latvia.

Folks will fairly argue proper mirror adjustment solves much of the problem; proper adjustment strangely seems to be a lost art, but these are still nice even with properly set mirrors.

clearly, the M240i doesn’t have as much of an issue as the Supra, but I do think these would help.

The research on whether or not these prevent accidents is actually mixed (last I looked).

Do you have part numbers of the European OEM mirrors?

I have my mirrors adjusted properly (not including side of car as reference), issue is Blind spot monitoring seems inconsistant at different speeds & conditions. Would rather have convex . Dont want to pay $200 for rexspeed one

I should have added: the seller I bought from on EBay salvages OEM mirrors from some BMW crash facility in Europe where he/she works. I say this in case you’re wondering why there are so many listed from Eastern Europe. That’s the story I got from the seller anyway - must be true. Nice quality glass for sure.

Pasted from EBay below. They fit a lot of vehicles including the 202 Z4. They have connections for heat, but I’m not sure about the light-up triangles for those with blind spot monitoring. I REALLY like them.

OEM / Manufacture Part Number: 51-16-7-390-617 , 51 16 7 390 617 , 51167390617

Well done. I’m going to guess they’ll work fine. I’ll be getting a pair.

Here is the driver’s side convex (European spec’d) mirror off of my M240i (wife wants planar mirrors) and held up to my Supra. Too bad they don’t have the blind spot warning triangle (they do have the heater connections) however.
