Polarized sunglasses make it damn near invisible.
Night time driving with it results in the whole square/rectangular screen being visible as a reflection.

I do enable it on track just so that the speed can be seen on camera.
Oh yeah, it can be a annoying with those shades.

Y'all use your HUD? I find it very annoying.
I have HUD on my Denali and i fucking hate it. They made it so useless, not giving actual useful info IMO. "Oh here is your speed".... Um is that all?!.... It could be so great with things like Tire Pressures, Fuel range, DEF range, or Regen Status and more but shitty engineers wont do it.

They bragged it has this 15" HUD screen... For a fucking speed gauge... Oh it also says if im going a direction. lol. What a joke and turned it off.

I was totally cool when i got a base/tech pack supra, i really didnt care for HUD so it was a win for me

I leave mine up but I always find myself referencing the cluster instead of the HUD. Would be nice/cooler if we could have shift lights in the HUD like the M cars do, otherwise it's basically just a secondary speedometer.

I've turned off all of the traffic notifcations/alerts and navigation functionality for it, I just find that stuff annoying.

I had my windshield replaced 3 months ago with a Pilkington aftermarket. I did not noticed any difference in clarity.
FYI it is normal for them to drive a few miles to calibrate the front sensors. I'm surprised they did not let you know up front.

That's good to know. Thanks.

Definitely took some time for me to get used to as nothing I've had before this had it. I really do like it now and use it all the time.

I do agree with the sunglasses bit if they're polarized it is much more difficult to see the HUD on the windshield though. Also noticed the annoying glare I get on the windshield from the square cutout of the HUD screen as well. Been thinking about trying to get something I can stick over the edges that are more of a matte finish or something to stop the glare from pinging off the glass in front of me. Will let you know when I find something I like

I just set my #1 button to enable/disable HUD. quick and simple. I dont really need MPH shown in my face at night...because I'm just cruisin' for boba.

Thank you. I didn't realize that there were two options.

Thank you. It looks like the dealer made an expensive mistake.
I think you’re right. I’d have them come and get that bubble out. Iā€˜m on my 4th windshield. Didn’t matter the brand. I’ve had both. Homestead (track) is particularly rough on them.

The solution for me, I finally convinced a fantastic PPF shop in my area to put a permanent protection film on it. No problems since. But I doubt it’s something you’d want to do if you don’t track. The film company recommends you don’t use your windshield wipers and use only water or a special cleaner once it’s been applied. Windshields for this car aren’t cheap. So, for me, I’m happier than a pig in ?

I was looking around and saw your thread. Lucky for you, I am an auto glass technician, and I own a supra. Like what the others said, there are two windshields for the supra, and one of them doesn't have HUD. Some companies use the one without HUD since it's half the price, and the HUD would be blurry or not as good.

There are some tags on the windshield, specifically starting with FW052 or FW052.
I can confirm if the windshield comes with HUD or not if you can get that.

Also, for people asking, there are windshield protection films (which last a couple of years only; the technology is not good yet). If you are replacing your windshield, I would request the Pilkington brand or PGW, as those are the best on the market.

If you are located in Houston, TX, feel free to contact me to get a windshield replaced. I will give good discounts for supra owners, as I own one.

Note to everyone, only use a reputable company. Preferably recommended by your insurance. Even if not using your insurance (like me). A good company is willing to work with your insurance for a set value. I paid a company out of pocket and they turnaround and sued my insurance company for more money. I then found out this was more common than I knew.

To prevent this, my insurance company said just call and ask who they use for a set value in my area. I don’t have to file a claim or use them. But find this stuff out first!

I've gone even further and removed the daft orange line so all I see is the speed. With my polarized Oakleys the HUD is dull but still visible which is fine too. It is my primary speed readout and coupled with my steering wheel shift lights, I have no need to look down at the instrument cluster during drives.

And for the record, I used to think having the HUD filled with things would be really cool.. until I actually drove a car with such a HUD. It was actually super distracting and awful. Even the tachometer was annoying after a few minutes.

Less, really is more in this case.
