Is this a bad purchase? Will this haunt me in the future?

Clean title one owner, clean carfax, maintenance up to date.

Get it inspected before you move forward. 4 yrs old and some use. Ensure the brakes, suspension etc are in order and the gearbox/motor. Warranty left? Extended warranty? I wouldnt touch a car with any active warning lights. The owner needs to correct that.

I would never buy these cars used unless maybe from a trusted friend.

Where is the car located? In a city/state that just got flooded, perhaps? I'd be very wary about buying a used car if you're in the eastern US, at least until I could verify it wasn't in a flooded city/state.

Yeah…. The only thing is the CEL from the CTS downpipe. Going to have my mechanics look it over and a BMW specialist to maybe do a look over. Having a compression test and a drip test done. no warranty as this is private sale; but i might get an outside warranty!

My 2021 Supra has over 60k miles with minimal service needed, so I can confirm at least one case of them being operational at that mileage. I second the idea of getting the car inspected though

car is $37k for 61k miles, you should be able to find MINT 2021 under 15k miles around $47K. Difference in miles/price works out that for every 4600 miles cost you $1,000. So the extra 46000 miles saved cost you $10,000.
Unless your good at diagnose and handy I’ll choose the low mileage. hell, that’s what I did, bought below 10,000 miles with documented records and added Toyota care for 10 years.

Agreed. I would be more suspicious of the price than the mileage.

These are basically BMWs, the value lost will increase at a greater rate with mileage. The natural concern is reliability, but the drivetrain in these aren't as bad as your typical BMW. No flooded car from the recent hurricane will be on the market, and if any are, they'll be obviously flooded. Get an inspection, a vehicle history report, and enjoy the vehicle.

These cars aren't 350Zs with 7 previous owners in their 20's. That's a good deal, almost 40% off new MSRP and the car is realistically only 25% through its mechanical lifespan.
