I’m not on the forum often but I thought this would be worth the discussion.

I provided a couple of ideas to Burger Motorsports on the JB4. So maybe by starting this trend can provide opinions that Burger Motor Sports may used to decide if they would incorporate.

The idea/suggestion is making a wire harness extension that the module can be installed inside the car and if so make the module out of durable plastic to reduce the cost.

For potential JB4 buyers the cost would be enticing and able to install the module inside the car for better durability and safer. Also allow current JB4 owner to move the module inside the car.

I have a 2021A90 Supra Premium that is tunable for DME is made prior to 6/2021. I have done alot of research. I do not want to go full out on overly modifying, just want to give my car a little more hp and lots more torque for a little more kick.

please Provide opinion and maybe it will help Burger Motor Sports decision and help us enthusiast as well.

Just do it right the first time and take advantage of your tuneable ecu and get it unlocked and go with Ecutek and call it a day.

Honestly doubt they will do anything. JB4 and previous models have been around for years. If it was something they wanted to do/market for it they would have done it by now.

I could be wrong, but the dme needs to be pre 06/2020 not 2021 in order to be unlocked.

Correct. https://willmy062020plusecugotorussia.com/

Side note: JB4 makes the same housing to cut down on costs I imagine - really doubt they’ll change it up just for us.

You could technically create your own wiring extensions to move it into the cabin, wouldn’t be terribly hard but it would be terribly pointless with the wonderful JB4 sealed housing.

Sorry my DME is 3-14-20.
Also BMS responded and said not interested. They said have not had any issues with location.
I was just being helpful to increase sales and provide solutions for us Supra enthusiasts.
The fortune 200 companies that I used to work for continuously improve to reduce cost, improve reliability and boost sales (volumes). That was my primary role.
Oh well.
Thank you for the feedback.

Adding more wiring is not going reduce cost. They probably have thousands of the housings pre-made already. They all look the same across car models. Supra is to niche and even more so for people that want speed to care. If it was something that was an issue they would have done it by now on past models.

It is not about an issue. It is being competitive in gaining sales and profit margins. The saving is from the plastic housing not the more expensive aluminum. So if installed inside it keeps it from the elements including heat.
The wiring can cost $2-4 depending volume and they can sell it for $20 or more.
I am a design engineer and also worked in the procurement side as well.
It’s BMS decision only providing opportunities and view/need from a customer stand point.
Anyway it’s all good.

Competitive with what? They basically have the supra niche covered in the one step before full tune area of the market. It's not like their sales are down now and are going to sky rocket after putting it inside. You're the only person I've personally come across that wanted this change. They do well across multiple platforms. Again there hasn't been issues for where it's being placed now, so not much incentive for them to change what's working fine for them now.
