Neither, just a service notification for brakes from what I remember. I saw another thread recently were an owner received a service notification because brake pad sensor tripped. I'll try to find it.
My car has like 3k miles.. at this pace the light might turn on around 4k miles. I will just reset the timer unless my brake fluid looks discolored.. On low mileage cars I usually change 5th year, then every 3 yrs afterwards unless my driving routine changes for the car. I have an extractor so will do the change myself..
Our brake service pinged at 20k also. Fluid flush was the call. Service writer was a goon and soured the experience (good push to do our own service, as we do on the other cars) but the job was done and all was smooth after. Hopefully yours is equally smooth.
brake fluid is hydrophilic - attracts water - and gets contaminated by just sitting in brake system. probably much lesser than when driven but it still gets contaminated. It is better to replace it every other year if car is not driven as much. It looks like supra's change duration is set much shorter than average daily car and I assume it's because the fluid is higher quality for better braking.
also, as you know, air or water/steam has different compression as well as boiling point that will impact braking when it's mixed with brake fluid in brake system.
