Installed my Valenti Taillamps and they worked, mostly. When i went to test the opening and ending action there was no response. More to the point the car wasn't locking and unlocking. Car only start when remote key is held up to the steering column.

Before any work was started, the battery ground was disconnected and the car was without power for 3 days. The instructions said to tap constant power from F244 "Door lock, exterior door handle electronics, telematic communications Box" at the rear fuse box and that's so i figured that would be a solid place to start. Removed the fuse tap and reinserted the 5A fuse from factory and verified via test light power on both sides of the fuse. With the fuse tap and provided 5A fuse installed I'm still getting power across the fuse. Tried cleared the fault codes too and that didn't work. note: Both keys don't lock and unlock the car and can only be started up when either key is held up to the receiver on the column. The car's central un/locking DOES work when actuated with the switch on either door panel.

Forum search on here led me to a thread that pinpointed to the antenna north of the battery and that the repair was a open wire and wire repaired. I didn't do any work around the antenna but worth a shot looking. removed the insulating tape and found no cause for concern there so im stumped. Looking to see if anyone had a direction they can give me. Thanks!

My keyless door function stopped working randomly. I've tried all the tips and tricks to get it back working including looking into the antenna with no luck.

can you start your car without holding the key to the column? check that antenna and its harness next to the battery. that may be the fix for the random problem

since im 99% sure mine is self inflicted im retracing steps here

No, I have to unfortunately hold the key to the column or it says key fob not found. I've also tried changing batteries and trying my second key fob with no luck. Super annoying!

try disconnecting battery and removing tap and reconecting battery and see if everything reverts if so might be short in the new taillamps itself. did u wire/plug all the other connections for the new lamps correctly/tightly?

Have you tried replacing the battery in the fob yet? I've run into an odd problem that happens every now and then where the car doesn't seem to detect the key until I touch my door handle(I've got it coded to lock/unlock with proximity instead of touching the door handle but that also works). I haven't changed out the battery yet but next time I drive it I'm going to try and see if that makes a difference

I haven't. Worth a shot I guess? Unlikely because both of my keys don't work.

i tried this already also. Without the new lights not plugged in key still doesnt work.
I have a feeling it's coding. I just don't know where to start looking yet

Central locking with the key as well as everything else worked as it should have before the new lamps went in.

So has to be something shorted out when you plugged in those lamps. Check all fuses not just the one you tapped

I seem to get all kinds of errors or codes when I do things to my car. Sorry to use your post as a guinea pig but I wanted to see if this multi AI model would work in a single link, instead of a massive copy & past. Hope it helps ya!

WOW that's an interesting program thanks for sharing that.

I've performed all of the basic check and tests going over every connection ive interrupted both new and old. I'm now limited by lack of specialty tools like techstream or harness pigtail for DMM use. Couldn't find anything helpful in the files of bimmercode and bimmerlink.

I took it to work this morning and just then realized i've lost carplay and bluetooth. Seeing as how fuse F244 it told me to tap is the circuit for door locking and telematics this pretty much umbrellas the problems to one circuit.
