My ZL1 RockGuards finally cracked after 5 years,

DSC01449.webp

decided to try these guys out. Long story short, "they aight". I'll Prob go back to Zl1 after these.

For the price ($166 Shipped), these were advertised as an "OEM" look, easy installation, and no modification required work.

They're floppy like a banana peel.

I Had to reuse my old rivet heads, and salvaged the stems from the new ones, couldn't find my rivet tool for the life of me.

The rear requires the original hardware, thankfully I kept mine after installing the ZL1's.

Also as you can see, the fit is a bit off. User error? it's hard to fck up 3 screws.

So yea, there you have it, $165 rock guards. IMHO it ain't worth it.

Yeah, those look terrble. I'd be looking to return those regardless if they were installed, with the pictures of how poor they look. The box looks like they spent more R&D than the product. That company should be ashamed. Hopefully nobody else makes this mistake with this PSA.

You know, I mistakenly bought pre-2022 ZL1 rears for my 2026. $25 via PP and I'll ship 'em to ya. PM me if you're interested.

Had megachip and they broke at the 3d printed mount location. Threw them away. What a waste. Not crazy about ZL1 that I have now but at least the price is decent and fit is better. If Toyota offered OEM I'd prefer that route...

Same, the guards Toyota offers for the 86 are nice. I was hesitant to put them on at first due to the larger size, but they looked perfect to me once installed.

My supra is on their site, so I am just the slightest of biased.

Looks like either a bad set or install. Mine do not look anywhere close to that and I've been using them for a WHILE. Lots of track time, lots of rough backroads. No breaks, nothing out of place. They fit MY needs more than the zl1s did.

I have these too and I generally like them. I had to replace the hardware on the fronts because the rivets ended up slipping through the opening. Rears have been solid.

oh nice, I call bs on bad install. 3 holes, 3 screws, OEM screws. you can't fuck that up.

I've seen people fuck up a sticker install. Not making assumptions that OP knows how to turn screws.
ah okay, yeah maybe these are too advanced for me. I really should just go back to what works, ZL1s seems pretty brain dead install that I could get with.

I've just been using the Armaspeed ones since I got the car (fronts only, never installed the back ones so I can't speak for those.) and they seem to fit well and hold up 10K miles later, albeit they don't quite look OEM at least from what I've seen of the rear fitment. Would recommend it as a potential alternative if anyone's been looking.
