I was watching a video of Max Orido's Supra and noticed his has a plastic trim above the front wheels under the hood.

Looking under my hood and every google picture of US spec Supras, it doesn't look like we ever got them, however the insert holes for them are there.

Does anyone have a source to the part number for these trim pieces?

I see the mounting holes for the plastic trim but my early 2020 NA doesn't have those parts.

Does it have anything to do with factory wheel stance? If it sticks out and serves no real aero purpose it might be something that artificially extends the measurable fender beyond the wheel for legal reasons in certain countries.

I've noticed those little tab parts on a few modern performance cars. An example I can think of are the totally ugly eyebrow pieces BMW sticks on the fenders of the M240i with the optional performance wheels so it complies with US regulations.

There's so many stuff our US Supras have missing. First time I've seen this one and I can see this being nice to have since a lot of grime gets caked on that portion of the hood so takes a bit of elbow grease to clean off if you don't frequently. Another is the separate amber turn signals in the tail lights, puddle lights under the doors and you can see the section it would have been a cutout from. The Matrix LED for the headlights but that just became approved earlier this year by the NHTSA.

Doesn’t appear to be on the Toyota parts website. Bit of a puzzler…

In my former life, i drove a little car that had these little ears. They served no purpose (aero or mud guard) other than to satisfy a law in certain countries.

In these regions, cars from the factory must be as wide as the tires. The idea is that you can't have tires wider than the car because they may throw rocks back at the unfortunates behind you. While obviously circumventing the spirit, the little ears bring the maker into compliance.

There were threads and threads on the best ways de-ear your car.

Maybe that's what these are for?

Those would have been a nice addition. If nothing more than to prevent the anti-corrosion wax from dripping out of the holes on hot days.

Yep. I remember seeing this on an old M3 review and it's even worse.
