while I have no doubts on Tada's expertise, I do wonder what sort of insight he was really able to provide BMW who arguably should have accumulated more experience, talent and know how when it comes to performance machines than what Toyota had over the past 2 decades..
Remember, the Z4 isn't being tuned by the M division last I checked, if it were I doubt the SPX would have beat it so badly on SPA nor would they have needed Tada's input.
I never pressed for more information honestly, so I'm not sure what the specific details were.

it looks as though my initial thoughts of it being 5x120 were not correct... cross referencing some other information confirmed this.

thanks for the info!
If true, I wonder why they would choose a 5x112 pattern (VW/Audi/Merc) when BMW have 5x120 and Toyota have both 5x100 (GT86 bolt pattern - plenty options due to the popularity of the twins) and 5x114.3...?

I believe BMW is transitioning to 5x112, likely because they are hateful bastards.

is that saying no one outside the M division of the ultimate driving machine corp can provide similar insight to tada? sounds a bit odd unless bmw has really changed

from that discussion, it was made apparent that the BMW engineers were pretty lost in terms of priorities; that's probably why their car was slower.

according to industry folks, it saves a bunch of money overall by reducing weight.

I've never driven a non-M (or M Sport) that felt like something I would consider "the ultimate driving machine".

Actually, I take that back. The older cars were worthy of that label. E30s, E34s, etc. I don't feel it in the newer cars though.

My latest design based on the test car details and exact proportions.
In gunmetal grey exterior / tobacco interior.

That looks barely bigger than a Miata. Hopefully it has some more sizable presence than this.

I took the car from the latest spy shots and rendered it in the photo. Unfortunately it is small as it is the same platform as the BMW Z4.
You can clearly see this in the recent photos during the snow testing by comparing the size of the driver in the car.
Its not the GT-sized coupe we all hoped for few years back....

I think we all thought the car was going to be a GT car like past supras. It is about the size of the cayman ( give or take ) so it is very small unfortunately ..

It seems like the more powerful GT86 everyone was begging for. Not saying that's a good or bad thing for the Supra nameplate but they can't please everybody.
