I very recently was dyno tuned for pump 93 and e50 flex, and the stock tires obviously need to go. I was thinking about getting new wheels, (probably 19”, 9.5 front 11 rear width) but thinking I could just go with new rears like 275 or 285 just grippier. I mainly just do spirited street/ highway driving.

Any thoughts on whether staying Stock wheels will be enough if I go with a 200 tread wear or less like PS cup 2, falken azenis rt660, advan ad09, Potenza Re-71rs, etc? I guess there’s always street-able drag tires like nitro NT555rII as well, but don’t know how much life those would have. Thinking i may still go to a 305 rear eventually with new wheels but curious what people here have tried.

Do you already have built axles?

He said “spirited street/highway driving” you don’t really need built axles for that stocks just fine. If he wants to dig race then those stock axles will meet god quick lol

One quick launch from a stoplight could do the trick; I want to make sure he has that sorted out before sticking some real meat on

No I don’t have built axles. I wasn’t planning on doing drag racing or hard launches from a dig, so not sure if a 200tw extreme summer performance type tire would do the trick or the nt555rii, if I’m looking at the 285/35/19 rear size.

It’s possible to twist your axels on the street with a sticky tyre. So just be a little easy on launching if you want to keep the stocks

Same here i have a 93 and E50 tune i went with nitto NT555rii on the rear 285 width and they helped a lot
Do you mainly drive that setup on the street? Was wondering how it was in general, taking turns, or if there were any traction control issues etc.

Only street driving it’s great!!! i have the G2 nittos in the front as well car is planted around corners but i don’t spin much at all it’s very rare. I don’t daily the car so i can’t speak for when it rains tho. Probably selling my set soon tho cause i got apex wheels that had tires already

Some would argue this is a good thing! It’s like the only window you can send it sideways without feeling like you’re burning $100 every time you do it!
I mean yeah fair enough I do send it side ways every 2 seconds. Another bad habit is I always drive the car with traction control all the way off so that doesn't help lmao. But where it gets really annoying is when you're doing a roll race in the street and my car just skids around while I'm starting at 80 kmh / 50 mph. At around 100 kmh or 60 mph sometimes it skids sometimes it doesn't depends on how I launch it. So yeah it is fun trust me, but not so much when trying to race.
