PS4’s come on cars with 700 hp. If you are spinning PS4’s from 50mph then they are old and need to be replaced. My car is Pure 800, catless dp, bM3, and it dead hooks from 40-50 mph with 285-35-19 PS4’s. Cups would be the next logical choice, since they are still great in the rain, but I’ll tell you from experience they throw some rocks! After cups I would go with one 200’s mentioned above or R888r’s. No one so far in this thread has enough whp to need a full drag radial. My ZR1, which made peak tq at 3000rpm’s and weighed just slightly more than the Supra had no issues with PS4’s until I was well over 600whp.

Toyos 888 did the trick for me. For reference my car has 520whp/680tq.

I'm on rt660 315s, on cooler days I can spin them in 3rd. Once warm, I can get a pretty good launch in 2nd. 1st is worthless no matter what.
Do your 315s rub? And is the car lowered?

How are you liking the new tires?
Loving them so far, they hook nicely at pretty much any speed. I can't really break the rear loose easily, so can't have as much fun sliding, but being able to put the power down is great. I ended up getting an alignment too which also helped with rear stability.

Following this for axle related stuff. Are the DSS axles the only alternative to our stockers? The price is insane, especially if no core exchange.

You dead hook with 285 PS4S and 600+whp from 40 mph? Tires must be hot, or ambient temps?

How does the car feel at high speed? And what psi do you run them at?

Feels fine at high speeds now after I had the alignment done. I noticed it being wonky the first month I had the new tires; it seems the alignment in the rear was a bit off, so getting that done fixed it.

I've been running at 34 psi on the Nittos and 38 on the front tires. I've tried a few different things but did a tire PSI calculator with the size on the 285 width replacements and came up with that. I'm sure for drag strip you'd want it way lower but for daily driving it seems to work well

Yea I agree and find it hard to believe that he hooks with PS4S and 600+ whp unless its 80+ deg roads and you warm up the tires with a burnout. I have 305 PS4S rears and around 600 whp on pump gas. At 40-60F deg ambient temp they stand no chance rolling into it at 40-50 mph. It's even worse with ethanol as power goes up as E goes up. So I got a set of welds and ET street R drag radials. Now it pretty much hooks at 40-50 mph if you roll into it. I highly recommend those drag redials for those throwing down 600+ whp.

What setup are you running to make around 600 whp on 93?

CTS turbo, EOS mani, PI/reflex, Meth, flex fuel, XHP, 92 octane, catless DP, 27-28 psi. It did 562 whp on DI, catted DP, and a couple pounds less boost. So I am swagging that the final tune with 2-3 more psi, no cat, a couple deg more timing and more meth gets me close to 600 whp.

Sorry, I should have been more specific, my car has the mods listed but with a BM3 OTS 93 and E30 map. It’s probably making low 5’s to the wheels. It wiggles a little from 40 but from 50 or higher it flat hooks. At the end of my post I mention my ZR1 which started having trouble over 600whp but remember that car has 335 rears. I have purposely not gotten a real tune on the Supra because I am at the limit of these tires for a daily. I do not need another car on drag radials….yet😁😎🏎
