I'm grasping at straws but maybe featuring the W10 is reaffirming that the MR2 is coming. Towards the end of the race we see a 2000GT and MK4 Supra, maybe that means the MK6 will be a blend of styling cues from both. Again, just bored and grasping at straws... ?
A80 design with 2000GT's proportion.

I already posted this on the 5 sports car thread, but more from BC regarding the Supra.

https://bestcarweb.jp/news/scoop/1228549

Next up is the GR Supra. Like the GR86, it is an FR sports car equipped with a next-generation 2L engine, but this is a 2L turbo HEV. It comes with an 8-speed or 10-speed automatic transmission and uses a high-strength, lightweight carbon propeller shaft.

The next-generation GR Supra will be available as a Lexus version called the LC+RC Integrated Sports. The GR Supra will be a 2-seater, while the LC+RC Integrated Sports will be a 2+2-seater, to differentiate the two. Although unconfirmed, there is also a possibility that a convertible will be available.

Will it be released? Mazda version of Supra
There is also information that Toyota is researching whether it can use Mazda's inline-six engine for the GR Supra. At present, a 4-cylinder 2L turbo is the most likely, but the possibility of changing it is not zero. If that happens, there is a possibility that a sibling car, a FR coupe that can be considered a Mazda version of the Supra, will be created.

If true its good to hear that the 2 seater layout will be retained. I'm also not too familiar with Mazda's I6. What are our thoughts about this?

It needs a lot of work to be Supra worthy. The transmission is trash and has been noted on several reviews. Also its much heavier than current B58.

I think its a wet dream at the moment. JDM die hards are trying to will it into existence. The 400hp 4-cylinder is further along in development and the likely power plant going forward.

Mazda engineers were supposed to have spent some time with the Toyota GR engineers sometime either late last year or very early in this year. Presumably either that would be related to them also using the same vehicle platform for their own performance coupe (since the platform is capable of being a 2-seater Supra or a 2+2 Lexus coupe already) or to the Mazda I-6 engine. Or potentially something to do with both. Nothing has been mentioned about that since.

that rooks sooo much better than the render from Bestcar
Agree, and I doubt it will look anything like their render. It looks like they took the current Supra and smoothed out all the shape lines along with the fake vents and gave it Hyundai knock off headlights.

Just a thought, but the initial launch could just be with the 2.0 and a 6 cylinder model joining at a later date.
This is what my guess is also. Infuriatingly Toyota has a track record of this with the Supra since GR was founded: First the engine update with a cylinder head that has traditional individual exhaust ports, then the late to release manual transmission.

They *do* need a 2.0L version for better sales in areas where taxes for anything larger in displacement than that gets really high (Japan, Italy, etc.) and they do plan to offer hybrid trim levels of early all their models. This should have always been expected.

But I can't see them not doing something with Mazda's inline-six. And then there's the previous suggestion that the stout little G16E turbo was derived from Mazda's I-6 block as a starting point.

I really hope they do this after some serious work on a new cylinder head and strengthening other parts of that engine. Currently its highest grade production version makes 340hp @ 5,000 RPM and 369 ft-lbs @ 2,000 RPM with a single turbo all for SUVs. There's plenty of room to grow.

It will have to be as power capable as the current B58D or exceed its capability.

Next Toyota Supra And Lexus Twin Might Ditch BMW For Mazda Inline-Six

https://www.autoblog.com/news/new-toyota-supra-and-lexus-twin-with-mazda-power
Between the next Supra and next Lexus coupe sharing a platform and possibly getting a revised Mazda I-6 as one of the drivetrain options it's starting to feel like the 80's and 90's all over again since the Supra and Soarer historically shared the same platform for at least two generations (Supra MKIII & Z20 Soarer and Supra MKIV and Z30 Soarer/SC). Both models had inline-six engines.

Hopefully they'll revive the SC (or Soarer) name for the Lexus. With a chassis like this set up as a performance 2+2 GT driver's car it would be fitting to call it that again. The the MKVI Supra can pursue the two seater lighter, shorter and more focused route.
