This thread should be re-titled "MKVI Hopes and Dreams."

Has anyone actually bothered to fact-checked any of these posters claiming insider information or is this a blind faith kind of situation? Have any of their bullshit astrology style hints come to fruition?

May as well just look at Best Car and pray to your chosen deity.

Everyone is jumping the gun. The FT-1 concept was unveiled in 2014 and we didn’t get production cars until 2019.

We haven’t seen an official concept yet from Toyota. If they do unveil something in 2025 then maybe by 2029-2030 for rollouts at dealerships.

Yamaha or not 4 banger Supra makes me wanna ??
He didn't clarify in his previous comment whether or not he was referring to the new high powered 2.0L turbo 4cyl or the I-6 he's hinted that the G16E-GTS 3cyl was derived from. However my reading of his comment was that he's referring to the 6cyl and not the 4cyl.

However Yamaha being involved with both engines would be very welcome.

So no one is buying the 2.0 Supra and LC500h, so Toyota double downs by combing the two least popular trims into one package for the next Supra.
In the case of the current 2.0L Supra it's a 250hp-ish BMW 4cyl engine in a somewhat heavy chassis and also is auto-only, open differential only and with lackluster brakes. It's not hard to see why few people want it.

This new 2.0L engine however is supposed to *start* at 400hp and be very tuning friendly like the G16E 3cyl in the Yaris and Corolla. Toyota already has a 600hp longitudinal RWD version of that 2.0L 4cyl bolted to a 6-speed manual in a Lexus RC test mule at their proving grounds.

I don't see the two as very comparable. For an in-house designed four cylinder turbo they're off to a good start.

And then we can add to that why if the G16E 3cyl exists how is it so impossible that Toyota couldn't make an in-house I-6 out of two of them. Or as PerformanceSound has suggested: make a stout performance turbo 3cyl from an I-6 that you design first... just never talk about... and then market the 3cyl in a few cars to begin with before moving forward with the new inline six.

Either way their 3cyl turbo exists and it logically makes sense that if you combine two of them with a new forged steel crankshaft you get an I-6.

Further... they developed this new 2.0L turbo 4cyl long before they announced its existence. That's significant to me considering the chicken or egg question regarding why we even have the G16E-GTS 3cyl in the first place.

...

The next Supra will certainly have one or more four cylinder trim levels and at least one hybrid gas-electric trim level... as per the company-wide mandate for (at minimum) a hybrid trim on every new model by 2026... all of which A70TTR mentioned a couple of years back.

And since the 600hp 2.0L 6-speed manual Lexus RC test mule exists I'd say it's probably possible we see a manual trim level of that four cylinder as well.

It also seems possible that four cylinders may not be the only number of cylinders available for this next generation.

Nothing,considering a Civic DX
Sidenote after all the data they've collected, using a 4C only for the next Supra would be EGREGIOUS

Wow, someone’s really here to make sure we all stick to the serious business of fact-checking every post on a car forum. God forbid we let a little rumor or hopeful speculation slip through! Imagine going to a comedy show with this person: “Excuse me, did you fact-check that joke? Sources, please!”

But hey, thanks for the grounding reminder that we should all approach car enthusiast forums with the meticulous skepticism of a courtroom attorney. Next up, we’ll be cross-referencing VIN numbers and getting affidavits for every post ?. Nothing like a bit of hardcore car fact-checking to liven up the day!

That all but confirms my suspicions about the half baked riddles that are being palmed off as insider "information." Thank-you.

Have fun spinning your yarns.. I prefer my fiction in hard cover format.

Oh, absolutely…because who wouldn’t prefer their car rumors in a classy hardcover edition? Clearly, we’ve been doing it all wrong by casually chatting online. Next time someone drops an insider hint, we’ll insist on a signed first edition, complete with footnotes and a bibliography. Appreciate you keeping the standard high!

I think that was a different scenario. The name plate was out of production for over 20 yrs. The FT-1 was used to generate interest and to built up hype. If I recall correctly there was no concept cars for both the A70 or A80, and if there were Toyota never showed it to the public at an auto show. I guess what I am trying to say is that Toyota has seen that there is a market for a flagship sports so there maybe no need to show case crazy unrealistic concept this time around.

This reminds me when they were teasing the gr corolla in official photos/commercials of toyota products hiding in the background.
