Did he explicitly say that though? What I mean by that is, y'all don't think the B58 or some technologies that was shared during this codevelopment project won't move on to the A100 Supra?Traditionally, yes. Also A70 has already said BMW and Toyota will apart ways after the Z4 and Supra runs through its production cycle and the next model will be either done in-house or a partnership with Mazda.
I truly love thee B58, iDrive, and the ZF 8-speed automatic that's in the A90 GR Supra. @A70TTR has been off these forums for a while, but when he comes back, I hope he sees these things.
Firstly, the "SupraConnect" (*coughs* iDrive *coughs*) infotainment system is literally the best thing that has happened to Toyota in terms of interior ergonomics so far. I really hope A70TTR encourages the guys at Toyota that they add the SupraConnect system to every single Toyota out there. It's intuitive, reliable, and really fun to use. The current Toyota infotainment systems are a D rating at best and they just bring the whole interior down with it.
Also, the ZF 8-speed automatic is THE BEST automatic that happens to not be a dual-clutch transmission. They can't put your typical Toyota/Lexus automatic after that even though the 10-speed is really solid too. The ZF 8-speed transmission is a godsend. They need to keep it forever like the iDrive system.
Lastly, like I previously mentioned in these forums, it's way better to improve on what's already the best engine out there on the market right now. PLEASE make it your own and use what you've learned and take the shortcut. It's right in front of y'all. I was totally welcoming of this project once I knew what it was capable of. Toyota should continue to soldier on with the B58 and make it even better and better. Make it a true Toyota B58 engine (or call it a G30E-GTS or something like that). They've already added their own touches and modifications in the current GR Supra as well. So why not continue with this engine? It's proven to be reliable, smooth, sounds great and feels great too.
If I were Toyota, I'd be proud of this engine continuing on to the A100 Supra just like I'd be proud of this amazing GR Supra given the circumstances that the two engineering teams were given (in particular Toyota where they weren't going to just spend several billions of dollars on just one car after the nameplate ceased production for ~20 years).
