Occasional double horn beep while driving ... WHY?

This is a Strange one !

I have had an occasional double beep on the car while driving ( without me pressing the horn ) its happened 3 or 4 times , tends to be at low speeds. It does not appear with any other anti collision aid warnings.

I have checked my horn and connections and its fine.

its always a very regular "unintrusive" double beep so doesn't really seem like a short so It must be some function of the car but i am stumped.

Sounds like the infamous OBDII port alarm? Check your OBDII port for anything plugged in or if you have/need something plugged in on purpose, code out the alarm function with Bimmercode.

thanks for the reply but nothing plugged in odb2 port and ive already disabled the obd2 alarm with bimmercode.

are you hitting the lock button on your keyfob by accident?

Does the car double beep at guys or girls?

I don't feel well, not going in to work today...

Actually, my car does this sometimes when I am at the car wash. If I have the key in my pocket while I'm hosing down my car, it'll beep to let me know the engine is on and the keys aren't in the car.

Not sure if this is the case for you, but maybe a lead for you to follow?

Did you perhaps remove the air bag for any reason?

My horn would beep every time I made a sharp right turn after I replaced my steering wheel. It stopped after I removed the air bag and made sure all wires and connectors were properly seated.

nope... good call tho ... I had car from new ... ive never touched airbag or done any wheel mods

You can lock the vehicle while it is idling/parked by pressing the lock button on the key fob, the vehicle will honk twice to confirm that it is locked.
