Not to curse myself, but I always never grab the actual arm of the socket wrench when tightening oil bolts in aluminum pans. I only tighten from the center.

Went loose on you I take it?Same here. But that’s when it happened!
Are you able to remove the bolt at least?Felt like it started to, yes.
Could also just have been debris on the crush washer.. i'd just take the bolt out and bite the bullet and see what you're looking at... I cant imagine dropping the oil pan is that big a pain on this car... my M3 oil pan was pretty easy when I did my S55 crank hub.Yeah, I’ll be able to remove it. I stopped tightening right when I felt it go “soft” as I rotated.
Was the subframe in the way?Could also just have been debris on the crush washer.. i'd just take the bolt out and bite the bullet and see what you're looking at... I cant imagine dropping the oil pan is that big a pain on this car... my M3 oil pan was pretty easy when I did my S55 crank hub.
yeah 100%.... I cant think of a car that doesn't have a subframe directly under the oil pan. On the M3 I just took the subframe and motor mounts loose and supported the engine with a support beam on the strut towers and let the sub frame sag down.. drops 4-5" and provides adequate room to get the pan off.Was the subframe in the way?
