Both can.

I wonder why the new P3 Gauges OBD driven multi-gauge can't pull that oil pressure data if it is available through OBD port to Bimmercode and others? They make you buy a separate OP sensor (T it off OEM sensor I guess) and connect to one of the separate 5V inputs.

Basically looking for a good way to see OP on a gauge, especially when I track, so anyone with good options there, I'm all ears. 2021 MK5.

P3 just shows generic OBD2 data items that applies to all cars, that's why. It's the easiest and most straight forward to implement since the data addresses are the same across all cars.

So they are lazy and put the burden on their customers. But I get it - easy way to support a platform. Relying on an OP dummy light in a performance car is a bad idea IMO, so wondering what others are doing to monitor actual OP.

You can use the Bootmod3 logger on your phone without having Bootmod3 flashed to the car.

CANChecked also has a standalone screen that attaches to the OEM middle screen that show oil pressure I believe.

You are correct, for anyone besides me who cares... at least according to my convo with tech support at CANChecked "On a Supra MK5 oil pressure can be displayed from Can Bus and no additional sensor is needed."

A much more involved install than P3 but at least you don't need a separate OP sensor and you get multiple gauges on one screen, which is super configurable.

Yup, I've been logging oil pressure target and actual all last year via BM3 app.
